ABOUT ME

Hello, I'm Jérôme ! I'm 24. I grow up in Belgium. I'm an easy going and openmind person. If I had to give two words to discribe myself : I would say "serence" and "pro-actif" :-)
I studied political science. Today, I work for the militant network ADES (for Alternatives democratic, ecological and social). I love sports (I do track and field in competition), hiking and the cinema ! I'm feeling a cosmopolit person as a world citizen.

HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING

Now, I want to discover the world. So, I decided to travel for one year around the American continent. I started my travel in Vancouver in October 2012 and I want to finish it in Bolivia at La Paz. My objectives are to learn about differents cultures and differents ways to engage myself in alternatives projects.

COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE

I had several experience in my own country Belgium and two experiences in Canada. But I "wwoofed" for five month in Canada in 6 different places. So I was hosted and feed by farmers while I worked for them. The wwoofing experience is also awesome because you have time to deep relations with your host usually very interesting. I meet very progressive people but also conservative or extreme religious family : all experiences were fascinating. I worked especially in British Columbia : Abbotsford, Chase, Argenta (Kaslo), Victoria, Salt Spring Island, Duncan...

兴趣

- Since I started my trip in Canada, I'm very interested in ecological alternatives : How getting a coherent way of life ? Which society model should we support or design ? And with which social relations between humans ?
- I do athletics competitions since I have 14 years old.
- I looked after teenager in a youth mouvement in Belgium. Now, I coach the new young leader.
- I'm very engaged in the student representation in Belgium.

我做过的一件不可思议的事情

- I slept in a snow cave for several nights (while It was - 18 degree Celsius outside) in the Kootenay Joe Mountains near Nelson (Canada-British Columbia).
- I travelled with a criminal under run during 700 km between Nelson and Vancouver. True story ! I'll tell you !
- In Brussels, I filmed a squat where 200 people lived as a third world slum in except that it is in the capital of Europe.
- In Israël, I saw the complexity of the Middle East conflict.
- In Morrocco in the Atlas Montain, I discovered the generosity of Berber populations.
