About Me
CURRENT MISSION
Pursuing a career in software engineering.
ABOUT ME
I have a tendency to clean other people's kitchens, so let me know if that makes you squirmy. I live for deep thinking and intelligent conversation. I love to explain things and find myself learning everything I can. Some consider me idiosyncratic, I just think for myself and find my own methods :-P . I like to learn new things, solve problems, make stuff, explore new foods, cities, and make new friends.
Why I’m on Couchsurfing
I joined to make moving to Japan easier (never happened), first used CS to meet locals while traveling Northern Europe, and now I'm paying it forward by hosting people who come through my little town in Utah.
Interests
What socioeconomic structure yields the most satisfied people? I love chatting about basically anything technical or scientific. I'm interested in clean energy, biochemistry, genetics, nutrition, gardening, astronomy, technology, computer science, economics, politics, religion, demography, artificial intelligence, automation, the biology of aging... Pretty much everything except sports, big waste of time :-P. I spend a lot of my time wondering about how the future will be, mostly in vain. I also play D&D and similar games.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done
Went on a 2 day road trip through the Norwegian countryside with 3 other CSers I had never met.
Made spaghetti from boiled fjord water.
When I traveled to Europe, I sold my truck, quit my job, bought a one way ticket, and didn't know anyone or even where I was going to sleep when I landed in Copenhagen. I left 2 1/2 months later with dozens of new friends, and plenty of second homes I need to visit again.
Teach, Learn, Share
Love to discuss, debate, teach, learn, and laugh about it all.
What I Can Share with Hosts
A place to stay, conversation, washer & drier, tea, a spare bike, power tools... Too many things to consolidate a good list.
Countries I’ve Visited
Belgium, Denmark, Germany, Iceland, Mexico, Netherlands, Norway, Sweden, United States
Countries I’ve Lived In
