ABOUT ME
I grew up in the northwest, then I went to college in a slightly different part of the northwest. I traveled Europe by myself for a few months before my final year of college, which diverted me from the standard "onward to law school!" path I was on, and I ended up going to grad school for architecture, which I recently finished. I got a lucky break with a job at a firm in LA, so we'll see where the next few years take me. At the moment, I'm excited to get to know my new home and hopefully start hosting people again (which I couldn't do really during grad school.)
PHILOSOPHY
Always figuring this out - I think about it a lot though.
Why I’m on Couchsurfing
COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE
When I was in Europe I ended up traveling with someone who had planned to couch surf in Budapest. I slept in the hostel with others who (like me) hadn't planned ahead, but we got a great tour/night out in the city because of her awesome host. It changed my idea of traveling, and got me interested in this project. Since then, I've couchsurfed a bit in the U.S., and hosted some people when I lived with pro-couchsurfing roommates in Houston.

Music, Movies, and Books
Movies: Goodbye, Lenin!, Kitchen Stories, The Big Lebowski, Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind, The United States of Leland, Let the Right One In, Big Fish, Hot Fuzz, etc.
Music: David Bowie, Beirut, Of Montreal (not so much recently... but I can forgive), Animal Collective, Belle & Sebastian, Anthony and the Johnsons, TV on the Radio, Sleater Kinney, Smog, and lots of others.
Books (authors anyway): Borges (I'm a sucker for short fiction in general), Dostoevsky, Camus, Nietzsche, Milan Kundera, Ken Kesey
One Amazing Thing I’ve Done
Summer of 2007 I jumped on a plane and went backpacking through Europe for more than two months without planning anything ahead except my arrival and departure dates. Highlights include pooling cash with some fellow backpackers to pay for train tickets/bribe a conductor in Slovenia and waking up on my birthday on a bench in the cafeteria on a ferry boat taking me from Spain to Italy... not remembering it was my birthday or why I was in the cafeteria.
Also, seeing the Flaming Lips UFO show at the Gorge amphitheater in Washington was incredible.
Teach, Learn, Share
I know some philosophy and a lot of political theory, which everyone else is also totally into. I love languages, so assuming you live somewhere where a language other than English is spoken, you know something I'm interested in learning. I can geek out pretty hard on architecture and urbanism. I know how to cook a few things pretty well, and love to cook big meals for dinner parties and things like that.
