ABOUT ME
Jesse studies Indo-European languages (primarily Ancient Greek, Latin, Gothic, and Vedic Sanskrit; also French and German) and theoretical linguistics, especially method in historical linguistics. Mary is an illustrator and paints wonderfully; her website is marylundquist.com. We have been married for three years, and both like cycling, reading, good beer, and excellent coffee.
Why I’m on Couchsurfing
HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING
We have travelled a fair amount (rock climbing, and have been to all states in the lower 48 of the US, and climbed in every mountain range there) and have long appreciated relationships of hospitality. I am happy to meet new people, hear their accents and attempt to eat the food they eat. I'm happy to host others, as well as be the guest in their country. -Jesse
COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE
We have stayed on couches from California to France, and have generally been happy with it all. Like many, I've had experiences that were not my favourite, but on the whole I've seen many places I'd never have seen otherwise.

Music, Movies, and Books
Literature ancient to modern; also technical literature on linguistics (this doesn't go for my Mary as well!). Both of us like a range of movies, and we have seen every film of Woody Allen as well as Ingmar Bergman, something of a feat as they are both prolific.
One Amazing Thing I’ve Done
I climbed a boulder problem in Joshua Tree, California called 'White Rasta', and anyone who has been there will know it's something of an accomplishment, as it's quite high and scary.
Teach, Learn, Share
If one were so interested, I'd be happy to show someone the basics in reading a language (the devanagari script of India, or etymologies in English), as well as how to bike around my homecity- at Manchester. I would be only too happy for lessons in French and/or German.
