One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

I often tell people about one day in NZ that so perfectly represented the adventure and amazing diversity of traveling there. We woke up and started the day with black water rafting, which is repelling into a cave and then climbing around in underground rivers and tubing the darkness. That is really its own, much longer, story but we came out in the afternoon and drove to Taupo just in time to Skydive. We had a reservation for the previous day, but the weather was no good and it was canceled. On this day they broke a record for the most divers in one day. We dove at sunset and still remember the color of that landscape and seeing what seemed like forever. We slept that night in the desert and the next day climbed a volcano called Ruapehu. We played in the snow and I thought about how much we had done it so little time, as well as how many diverse landscapes NZ has. I love NZ and it gave a deep travel bug and a love of meeting travelers.
