ABOUT ME
My friends and family call me "JT". I enjoy film criticism, walks in the woods, cooking, studying rhetoric, travel, etc. As a graduate student, I teach Public Speaking to about 60 students each semester, as well as working for the debate team. I love my cat Bubbha, who just turned 19!
Although I am barely over 40 (uggg) I rarely act my age! I enjoy cooking a variety of foods and always eager to learn.
PHILOSOPHY
My life is full of angst, rushing around, and study. I need a break! I am looking to come to some resolution on the direction of my current studies and...well life in general...or I'm indulging in a fantastic and selfish vacation...or maybe a little of both.
Why I’m on Couchsurfing
HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING
I have not been on the site in a long time, but would love to host. Hopefully I will be making a trip to Vancouver this summer!
COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE
I had a wonderful experience Couchsurfing in Florence Italy. The couple I stayed with were generous and overall amazing! I aspire to be a similar host. As a guest, I am cleaning and willing to help out in any way I can--especially cooking!
Interests
For work and school I have a tremendous amount of reading, which leaves little time (and eye energy) for outside reading. I love film and film criticism. One perk with my job is free travel all over the United States. I have never really traveled outside of the U.S. and am eagerly awaiting my return to Italy in the summer of 2016!

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done
I think the giant Redwoods in Northern California have to be the most surreal natural wonder I have experienced.
I stayed at an 1800s Adirondack Mountains resort at Loon Lake in Vermont. This was probably the most peaceful place I have stayed!
Coming up from the subway to see the Colosseum was absolutely incredible!
One of the best decisions I made when travelling through Italy was to stay in Lake Como so I could wake up to snow-capped mountains!
Teach, Learn, Share
With almost 20 years coaching college debate, I feel as though I can talk about most anything. My main interests lie in the fields of media studies, space exploration, rhetoric, and social justice issues. I have traveled quite a bit in the United States. I am very interested in picking up any cooking tips and experiencing cultures.
