About Me
CURRENT MISSION
Just finished up my degree. Starting my career, enjoying friends and family, getting outdoors as much as possible.
ABOUT ME
I am 26 year-old interior BC boy. I am originally from New Westminster but spent most of my growing up at Sun Peaks Resort and in the mountains surrounding Kamloops. I love to travel and just returned home from 5 months in Europe, completing the last semester of my business degree on exchange at an International Business Program in Lyon, France while travelling as much as possible. With that I just completed my BBA with majors in Marketing and New Venture Creation. I am pretty career focused at the moment but I am an outdoors and music guy at heart. I am a big believer in the power of business and athletics as tools for positive social change. Right now I am managing the family art gallery at Sun Peaks but I am in the midst of interviews and sending off applications daily for new jobs so positive change is in the air. It is a really interesting period not knowing where the best opportunity will lead me in the short term.
I am very value driven, goal oriented and networking based. I wear my heart on my sleeve most of the time. Family and community mean a lot to me. I like to draw inspiration and resources from all angles in order to combine the best of what I see into life. Life is a gift that is meant to be shared.
Athletics, coaching and the outdoors have always been a large part of my life. I have raced downhill mountain bikes professionally for the last 7 seasons and have a bike coaching business, both which are great passions of mine. I have also coached ski racing for the past 10 years and competed in skiing, BMX, motocross, cross-country running, swimming and diving. As I have been increasingly bearing the consequences of my high-risk activities I am being drawn more and more towards lower-impact activities such as climbing, all-mountain riding, hiking, and yoga.
I love connecting with people, learning and gaining perspective. I am very social and often seem to find myself a couple hours later at the end of amazing conversations with people I have just met. I absolutely loved my education and the people I got to meet through it. Though I am done school for now I am stoked on the learning opportunities that my career and my entrepreneurial, athletic and volunteer pursuits represent. I donât watch much TV, but I watch a ton of videos on TED.com. Check it out if you want inspiration in your life.
Expression is a big part of my life, whether it is in playing music, singing, dancing, writing, art, fashion, humour or athletics. I am open-minded and have diverse interests. My educational commitments caused my musical pursuits to be put on the backburner, but free time while travelling gave me the opportunity to get back on the guitar and start playing again on stage, which I absolutely love and hope to do much more of in the future. My latin friends there got me into a bit of salsa too which was a ton of hilarious fun. I am stoked to pursue more of it so I can keep up with them when I get to go visit.
PHILOSOPHY
My life is about contributing to my family, living by my values, planning long term, striving for self-defined goals of increasing health, fitness, ethicality and success, learning and gaining perspective constantly, connecting with those around me, growing my network, sharing the love of the outdoors, of athletics and of what I have learned in order to empower others, cherishing the environment, helping those in need and contributing to causes I believe in.
Why I’m on Couchsurfing
HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING
I have a house in Kamloops but am working and living at Sun Peaks. I have spare beds and couches at both places available in return for some interesting conversation. If I am free I would love to show you my home area and why I love it!
I am hoping to meet some similar people and learn unique things about the places I visit when I get the chance to surf.
COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE
I found out about Couchsurfing while living in France. I met an amazingly diverse network of inspiring people and was really impressed by the community feeling I got from it. Unfortunately I didn't have the chance to do much surfing as I was staying with friends throughout my travels. Now that I am back in Canada I am excited to see who I meet and hopefully get to do some surfing soon as well.

Music â Singing, playing guitar and piano, seeing all kinds of live shows and dancing. I like to listen to everything from reggae to blues to metal to electronic but am on a bit of a jazz kick at the moment as the beats are giving my blues guitar all sorts of new inspiration...

Three favorite qoutes:
“When I was 5 years old, my mother always told me that happiness was the key to life. When I went to school, they asked me what I wanted to be when I grew up. I wrote down ‘happy.’ They told me I didn’t understand the assignment, and I told them they didn’t understand life.”
-John Lennon
"The real issue is not talent as an independent element, but talent in relationship to will, desire, and persistence. Talent without these things vanishes and even modest talent with those characteristics grows."
-Milton Glaser
"I am the happiest man alive. I have that in me that can convert poverty to riches, adversity to prosperity, and am more invulnerable than Achilles. Fortune hath not one place to hit me."
-Sir Thomas Browne
