About Me
CURRENT MISSION
"The only thing that I ever learned, is when trusting a stranger, your trust will be returned..."
ABOUT ME
Hm....well,
I love learning, in any and every form, from books, from classes, observing, from meeting new people, and most of all from asking questions.
I believe in change. I think if you find an area of yourself that needs improvement, you should. What is the point of learning, if it never affects you? I am looking to make couchsurfing one more way to learn.
On a personal note, I do not smoke or drink, so potential hosts need not worry about that. I enjoy having a good time, and I am willing to participate in activities, so don't think I am boring just because I don't drink :)
I am polite, clean, and enjoy keeping my things in order, so should you host me at some point, you will not have to worry about me sprawling my stuff all over, I am not by nature very spontaneous, but I am working on that. I am organized, and enjoy conversations, as well as telling stories (I have a few...) I enjoy talking about music, and anything YOU are passionate about.
PHILOSOPHY
God, Family, Friends.
You were created for a purpose. Better find out what.
When no one else is left, your family will still be there. MAKE your family members your friends.
Friends are not just some people you met yesterday. Friendship is a committment and carries responsibility.
Honesty is ALWAYS the best policy, (but everyone should have some tact....)
Why I’m on Couchsurfing
HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING
Surfed couches from Amsterdam to Paris and Brussels. Without a doubt, the absolute most amazing thing I have ever done. Not necessarily because of the trip, but because of the people.
COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE
I surfed three couches in Amsterdam, two in Paris, and one in Brussels. I met amazing people from all walks of life, and enjoyed every second. I think that any trip without meeting and getting to know someone is a hollow shell of a trip, and on a cultural level, is a waste of time. People are the heart and soul of existence. Also, I guess you could say I have been couchsurfing "unofficially" for the last year and a half. I left Michigan in Dec of 2008, and have been on the road ever since.
I lived in Newport News Virginia for three months, traveled to South Carolina for two months, traveled to Ohio for two weeks, then traveled to Texas for two weeks, then Ohio for six months, then I left the US in January, and I am currently residing in Congo DR. Need a minute to catch your breath? I know I do....
Interests
Music. Oh man. Music. All forms, all shapes, and just about everything relating to it, writing, performance, the whole thing. I like chess, I like reading, I like learning, I like talking, I like listening, I like watching movies, A LOT. And the list goes on.
Language. I am happy to learn anything someone could teach me, especially about language, I am forever discovering new words and meanings in my native tongue (english) and enjoy doing so in other languages as well. I like having new experiences, and to be honest, I try to be as childlike as possible when it comes to discovering things. I read a saying once 'when every day is a discovery, you never grow old, you simply grow". And that pretty much sums up my outlook on life.
I go through intense "phases" of interest in varying subjects, this usually entails me going to the library and checking out every book possible on the present topic, or surfing the internet for hours researching :)
I enjoy cooking FOR others much more than I enjoy cooking for just myself. For some reason, the food always tastes better with company.
I am always looking for "uncommon beauty", not everything that is conventional is beautiful.

Music, Movies, and Books
Music:
All genres. Seriously. I have it all, and depending on my mood, listen to it all. I love finding stuff that you don't hear on the radio. I listen, and when I hear someone who is really communicating something in their music, I like that.
Movies: favorites are: Lost in Translation, Elizabethtown, Garden State, Matchstick Men, The Bourne Trilogy, Spanglish, Stranger Than Fiction, Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind...I could literally exhaust this tiny box they give us to type in...
Books: Traveling a lot makes it difficult to read, but a few that stick out in my mind are:
The Bible
Atlas Shrugged (so relevant in todays society....)
Sci-Fi Genre, Mystery, etc. the usual.
One Amazing Thing I’ve Done
This one time on a plane, we broke through a cloudy overcast day, and saw that above all those clouds, the sun was always shining.
Drove straight through, Fort Worth TX to Cambridge OH in one day, all alone. 20+ hours. I was pretty proud of that.
Teach, Learn, Share
I can play the piano, since it is mostly by ear, not sure what I could teach besides the basics.
English Language (one of my strongest subjects)
If I am traveling, I have my laptop and thus my music with me, I will plan to bring some blank CD's and I would love to share some music if you like it!
I am pretty good at "improvised cooking". I enjoy taking what I have, and making something tasty with it. I would love to cook for you!
Learn basics of another language, especially French if possible, also Spanish.
I can share my ear, and any and all experiences that would benefit you. I like to think I am easy to talk to.
