About Me

Hi! My name is Juan. I was born in Bogota, Colombia and moved to New York 6 years ago. I work as a web engineer at Antarctic, a digital agency that focuses on purpose and social impact. I have also trained as an actor and am a big art lover.

When I was a kid I wanted to grow up to be a scientist/singer. Not the best voice ever but I think I'm on my way!

I have an open mind and an open heart and am fascinated by the diversity of the world. I am a work in progress and I am in a process of exploration of myself and the world. Life and existence is a beautiful miracle and I want to make the most of it :)

My favorite thing in the world is traveling to places that I've never been before. I have traveled through North and South America, Europe and some of Asia. Looking forward to continue to see this beautiful planet!

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

I'm on couchsurfing because I travel solo and I believe that sharing with a local is an unbeatable way to learn and connect with the place I'm visiting.

Interests

I love technology, the arts, traveling, the sun, a good forest and beautiful cities that display the cultures of the world. I enjoy good food from all over the world, meeting people, DANCING (dancing is a big thing in Colombia, where I'm from). I am learning to play guitar and have a band with my friend Elena in New York.

Music, Movies, and Books

I love all kinds of music! I enjoy dancing to electronic music (bass, techno, drum&bass), latin music (SALSAAAA), and love watching live music shows.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

Visiting New York for a planned 2 week trip and staying 6+ years. They say if you can make it in New York...

Ayahuasca

I've seen Bassnectar (he's a music producer) play live over 15 times all over the US.

Teach, Learn, Share

I can teach you to code! I want to learn new languages and new skills, and I'm always eager and happy to learn to dance to a new style of music.

What I Can Share with Hosts

I can teach or help you with any kind of technology problem. Got a website that needs updating but you're scared of the back end? I got you!

I also would love to share a dance and stories from New York. I will share all the secrets about this awesome city I live in!

I can teach you to dance salsa! In Colombia I trained for 10+ years ;)
