About Me
CURRENT MISSION
look for a peaceful pad to rest and settle for a while after 19 months on the road
ABOUT ME
We grew up in different continents but our paths crossed in California and we were married in Mexico. We both love travel, food, witnessing different ways of living and admiring the wonders of the nature.
After school, we left California and spent two nice years in Budapest, Hungary. Besides the beauty, charm, and grandeur of the city, we enjoyed some tremendous live concerts and many lively lounges all over the city. And above all, we fell in love with Budapest's many thermal baths and have been chasing hot spring all over the world since.
We then felt an itch to see more of the world. So we scratched it by quitting our jobs and making a 17 year old VW van our home. We drove all over South America for 9 months, and then another 8 months across southern and eastern Africa. We then sold the van and went to China for a little over 3 months, followed by a 4 month stint in the south of France where we "rested" from the previous two years of travel with good friends, food, and - of course - wine.
Now we are back in San Francisco, the closest thing that we have to a "home," and we are looking to stay put and settle down... at least for a little while.
PHILOSOPHY
We're still looking for one, but here's how we try to live our lives:
ask lots of questions,
don't judge or disrespect others (but it's ok to make fun of things/people, even if the jokes are supposedly "inappropriate")
stay informed but don't trust the media or government
lock your doors but trust that most people are honest and not out to screw you
don't be afraid of the rain
dance
give good directions
be fashionably late
arguing is good... fighting and holding grudges is bad
you don't need religion to be a good and moral person
Why I’m on Couchsurfing
HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING
We surf and host. We are also always happy to meet any CSer for a meal or drink anywhere in the world - we find its often just as fun as staying with or hosting someone.
Finally, we always enthusiastically spread the word on the CS project (especially the great group in Budapest). We are happy to share all we know about the San Francisco area, Budapest, Macedonia and China with visitors going there.
COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE
We've had a great time meeting CSers from all over the world both in Budapest and while traveling. We were fortunate to be hosted by great people in Italy, Uganda, Kenya, Spain, Turkey, the UK, Chile, Peru Colombia, Mozambique, South Africa, Tanzania and Zimbabwe.
We also hosted people when we lived in Budapest and shared meals and stories with many others in various countries.
We had a 1993 VW Eurovan for our travels through South America and Africa and 5 couchsurfers hitchiked with us for a few days each.
Now we are back in SF, eager to host some more people and attend CS meetings.
