About Me

I'm Juan, I was born in Bogota, Colombia and grew up in Miami, Florida. Much like every Colombian, I'm a pretty happy person, pretty laid-back for growing up in Miami, and really curious. Growing up with a Hispanic mother, I know how to be a polite guest.

Currently, I am a university student back in Florida, so I'm a wide-eyed, ambitious person who hasn't become cynical yet by life. I enjoy to learn about cultures, people, and just how different perspectives can be.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

I am doing an exchange program in Vienna. Since it's my first time in Europe, I really want to explore as much of it as possible. I have also been told its a great way to meet people.

Music, Movies, and Books

My favorite genre of music is Latin Alternative music, but I'm always trying to listen to different types of music, from Arabic Ballads to French rap to Electronic Cumbia, so please give me suggestions.

My favorite types of movies are feel-good animation movies or suspenseful horror movies. It's either one or the other extreme, so. I enjoy cinematography, so I usually enjoy high-production stuff as well.

So I'm a terrible reader, the last book I read was this year, and it was "Nomadland". It's about economic hardships in America. One book I really enjoyed was "Pachinko" a family saga about Koreans in Japan.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

I have been to different parts of Colombia, but the coolest thing I have ever done was to do a 3-hour motorbike ride through La Guajira desert. I mean, the ocean, desert, mountain landscape at sunrise is really hard to beat.

Teach, Learn, Share

I'm into development economics, so I can bore you with that. I really love to share music, so if you want some weird Latin music, let me know.

What I Can Share with Hosts

I am a very polite person and really appreciate communication. Just let me know the boundaries and I'll let you know mine. I'm also willing to invite hosts to a beer.
