About Me

CURRENT MISSION

Have fun!

ABOUT ME

My name is Juan Francisco Aldasoro but, at home, everybody call me Juanfra. Whenever I travel, it is quite probable that I end up introducing myself as just "Juan", it's easier for non spanish speakers :)

I'm an easygoing guy who loves exploring the world end experiencing different cultures, habits, trying new things.

I love walking in the grass in my bare feet.

I consider myself as an amateur in several fields. I love music - actually I think I'm a frustrated musician -, sports - mainly football (soccer if you're reading this and you're American), I love cooking and taking photos.

I really love food. And when traveling I always go and try the local traditional food.

As I think every Argentinian does, I do care a lot about my family and friends. They play an important role in my life.

I work in technology & the internet. I'm self employed and location independent. That means that whenever I can, I try to get a plane ticket and travel, carrying my office in my backpack.

PHILOSOPHY

I agree with the idea of the "Death of the author"(*), so actually, I'll only share some phrases or quotes I've found interesting regarding personal philosophy:

"If there's a will, there's a way."
"Life is what happens to you while you’re busy making other plans."
"Without music, life would be a mistake"
"Don't travel to escape life, travel so that life doesn't escape you."
"Travel is the only thing you buy that makes you richer."

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING

I meet people, listen to them, have fun, share experiences and stories.

COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE

Super positive so far. Met a lot of people, many different minds, experiences, cultures.. Amazing!

Interests

Probably arts in the extended sense of the word.

When I was a kid I thought I would made my living out of drawing, then I did some sculptures, then I started playing the guitar, then I started using computers and got more involved in the audiovisual world. Nowadays I make my living out of graphic design and I write code - which I also consider an art.

I enjoy food, and cooking.

I love watching live music.

Politics and sociology.

I also do love sports and listening to good stories.

Finally, and kind of obvious, traveling.

Music, Movies, and Books

This one is complicated. It's hard to define in my taste in just a couple of paragraphs.

I listen to a lot of different music. I can enjoy from Nick Drake to some metal music. From Django Reinhardt, to Pearl Jam, to Nina Simone.

The first concert I attend to was, the last tour of the Ramones, when I was ten years old. I grew up listening a lot of grunge music: Pearl Jam, Nirvana, Soundgarden and Silverchair were my favourites. Nowadays I listen a lot of folk music, jazz and still listen rock and roll a lot. Beatles is like "the band". My favourite author these days is Kevin Johansen.

Regarding movies, my taste is kind of broad as well. I can enjoy a Ben Stiller movie and at the same time some other independent and slow movie. I love Woody Allen movies. I love comedies that work as a complete lobotomy, I love movies that make you think about life.

I don't read that much. I mean, I would love to read more. The last book I've read is "Kitchen Confidential" by Anthony Bourdain.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

Been tanning and chillin' in Cayo Pelon - A really tiny island(key) in Venezuela. There was nothing there more than a few square meters of just sand, yourself and the paradise - Check it out:
