I am a recent graduate of UCLA where I majored in Portuguese. Through my studies, I had the opportunity to visit Salvador and São Paulo, and I absolutely fell in love with Brazil! The people, the food, the culture. Uma maravilha! I am a fan of os Titãs, Clarice Falcão, Tiago Iorc, Seu Jorge, Caetano Veloso, Emicida, Engenheiros de Hawaii.. and am always open to learning more about other kinds of music. I am really into linguistics, and am planning on getting my master's here in the States. But for now I really just want to travel for a couple of months and teach English. I am an English tutor here in the U.S, but now I want to teach in Brazil!

Eaew! Então so um pequeno texto em português para acompanhar o outro. Sou Juan, nativo de inglês, nasci aqui em Los Angeles. Aqui me formei numa universidade chamada UCLA na área de português mesmo. Pelo meu curso consegui ir ao Brasil umas duas vezes (Salvador e São Paulo) e gostei muito. Agora estou querendo voltar para ensinar inglês e passar as férias aí. Aqui sou tutor de inglês e quero muito ensinar aí no Brasil.

So as I already mentioned I really just want to pass my summer in Brazil before the school year starts! I am also looking to make friends, and live life!

兴趣

I like karaoke, I love to eat, I like learning languages and learning about different cultures and different ways of doing things. I like learning about history. I love museums and gardens and mountains and hiking and running. I love to talk! I am a very bad dancer but if you get a drink or two in me I'm willing to try.

I am a big fan of a lot of Brazilian artists, as already mentioned. I'm also a really big fan of Brazilian poetry, albeit my knowledge is not as vast as I'd like it to be. I am a big fan of Carlos Drummond de Andrade. I even have a piece of a poem of his tattooed on my arm ("no meio do caminho tinha uma pedra")
