Overview
About Me
Hi! My name is Juan Manuel, I'm 28 years old and I'm Argentinean (Buenos Aires, porteño guy). I've also lived in Europe, first in the south of France and later in Glasgow (Scotland).
I have a diploma in International Economics, so I'm always keen about knowing what's happening on the economy, politics and societies around the globe. I've also had always an interest in learning languages, being my dream someday speaking all major Latin languages (Spanish, French, Portuguese and Italian).
Why I’m on Couchsurfing
First I started using CS out of necessity, while travelling the more I could on Europe I couldn't always afford a hotel. Then I found some really nice people. ready to share their homes just to experience new cultures.
Right now, and after all my travelling, I'm always up for meeting new cultures, make new friends and learn all about their vision of the world.
Interests
I think travelling is my first interest, I'm always thinking where can I go, what can I do, who can I meet. I'm starting to get a like of photography, right now having a kind of travel diary on my instagram (@jumasolari if you want to check it out)
I'm always keen of talking about all types of matters: from economics to art, from sport to politics. I think that each person has something intereseting thing to say about something, so the only thing we need is start talking :)
Music, Movies, and Books
My musical taste can be very eclectic: rock, funk, grunge, classic, ska, reggae, punk, etc.. I personally think that you can give a try to every style, it depends on your mood and you can also learn always something new. I've also had a short-term of being a singer on a rock band, so we can always jam too!
Movies are really important to me, from having fun escaping to some fantastic world to learn about our society in the most real ones. I'm also a big fan of series, watching/watched things as: Breaking Bad, Game of Thrones, House of Cards, The X-Files, The Walking Dead, Family Guy, Lost, House M.D., The Simpsons, and the Marvel ones (Daredevil, SHIELD, Jessica Jones)
While on reading, I'm always on thing studies-related, but every now and then I can enjoy some fiction (mostly classic things).
One Amazing Thing I’ve Done
I think the most amazing thing I've done is my trip across Europe, first I was to study all alone (no friends or relatives), and then I quickly met a lot of awesome people from all over the world. That ended up convincing me to travel across the continent, where I can proudly say that I visited almost every country :)
Teach, Learn, Share
I'm always up for a good talk, but I don't like this idea of teach-learn as separate things, I think that is a process perfectly intertwined.
As I said before, my studies are based on the Economics, but my approach is more unorthodox (not just numbers, also thinking about societies). So I think the most interesting thing I can share studies-related is a vision of the economy not just based on a bunch of guys in suits making a lot of money.
I'm also very proud about my Latinamerican heritage, so if you're not from the continent we can always share some of my culture. :)
