CURRENT MISSION

♪ "I don't recall a single care Just greenery and humid air" ♪

ABOUT ME

Something I scribbled while backpacking the Trinity Alps last August during a hopeful moment of longing for Pura Vida:

"There's nothing more liberating than a walk in the remote wilderness with nothing but the pack on my back. Here I am, a prisoner of my own carceral state, powerless to a looming cloud of vices. Escaping The Race, even if only for a moment, to realize that things truly can be simple. My thoughts shift from the noise of life to a meditative relief as I lie swinging between two tall birches that seemed to tremble at the slightest gust.
It wasn't my first trip to a lake deep into the wilderness, but this time was different. While I lie suspended my mind began to drift as I fantasized spending the holidays far from home. I might meet a vagabond in Belfast who shares an appreciation for a peculiar piece of music or perhaps an adventurer in Malta who would run down the beach with me no matter the weather; from there she and I would discover a coffee shop bearing the warmth of home to dry our rags. No itinerary nor destination, just two nomads wandering the history of our ancestors centuries past. Finding the dusty corners and the paths less walked has a certain intrigue that cannot be found while among the flood of Hawaiian shirts and Nikon straps slung from one neck or another. I would smear black ink while filling the pages of my journal as I watch the commotion, safely disconnected on a distant park bench. I would try to understand the irony of living patiently in a fast world. I would take a moment to lean against the trunk of an ancient willow as I push my feet into the soft turf. There I would stare into the distant sky and slow my gray matter into harmony with the drifting clouds. The music would play as if it were written for me, and for once I would just be."

Pourquoi je suis sur Couchsurfing

HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING

Life is like a game of poker, if you don't put any in the pot, there won't be any to take out.

COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE

I've hosted people from around the world and have met some truly inspiring personalities. I've done a bit of surfing too.

Centres d'intérêt

Rock climbing, firefighting, photography, videography,
I'm always down for a solid day of snowboarding. Throw a bottle of SoCo in the snow someplace and get crazy out there attempting tricks you know you can't stick!

I have a passion for photography, but I hate lugging around a dSLR. When I take my camera I feel like i always have to watch out for it and it kinda takes away from the freedom of being able to fly by the seat of my pants.

Morceaux de musique, films et livres

Yes, please.

I just finished "Rite of Passage" and now I've started "1984" by George Orwell, a book I haven't read since it was "required reading".

I enjoy new alternative, indie rock, reggae, folk, dubstep, music that inspires creative commotion upstairs.

Trying to take Dale Carnegie's wisdom to heart as his messages still hold true today.

Some of the music I've been listening to lately:
Menomena . Ghostland Observatory . Beats Antique . John Butler Trio . Vampire Weekend . Arcade Fire . The Airborne Toxic Event . Radiohead . 30 Seconds To Mars . Kings of Leon . Passion Pit . The Refused . Crystal Castles .
Brand New . Paul Oakenfold . Social Distortion . Incubus . Postal Service . Tom Petty . My chemical romance

I also dig downbeat tempos and ambient trance when i spend countless hours at the computer.

A few of my favorite movies are:
Children of Men . The Constant Gardener . Cidade de Deus . Brick . The Jacket . A Scanner Darkly . Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind . Sin City . Juno . Crash . Donnie Darko . Kiss Kiss Bang Bang . Lock, Stock and Two Smoking Barrels . Léon the Professional . Snatch . The Shawshank Redemption . 12 Monkeys . Pulp Fiction . Memento .

I don't watch very much television, but I always get a good laugh out of The Office.

"This could be the very minute
I'm aware I'm alive
All these places feel like home"

This is pretty incredible how desperate life gets for some of these people in CA trying to migrate to the US. It's only a few minutes long, and a pretty cool slideshow, check it out:

Une aventure extraordinaire que j'ai vécue

Firefighting can have it's marvelous moments. I have seen embers rain from the sky in the darkness of day. The sunlight seldom broke to ground; as the smoke thickened it became darker than black.
