About Me

Hey! I’m CJ.

I’m here for the scenery and the local food. Of course the food.

I’m not much into drinking or partying, but I like good beer every now and then. I’m extroverted, but pretty lowkey. I’d rather have the energy to go hiking in the morning than wake up with a hangover.

At home, I do artsy things, hike, and cook a lot. Otherwise, I write for work and have previously taught English and maths. I like to be outside or outta town as much as money allows me.

I don’t use this app too often, because I’m usually on Workaway. In other words, I do work exchange and know how to coexist with people in their spaces. I’m potty trained and everything.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

Language practice!

Interests

I loooove hiking and spending time outdoors. It's very resetting for me. Been doing more camping lately and it’s felt very refreshing.

Back home, I’m involved in MMA. I’ve done a few years of muay thai, jiu jitsu, and krav maga. One of the stronger ties I have to home is to my gym.

Music, Movies, and Books

Right now I’m doing the road traveller thing and reading Zen and the Art of Motorcycle Maintenance... it’s okay. Being in Thailand it’s more like Aw Shit and the Art of Why is My Scooter Making a Grinding Sound.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

One of the most beautiful and serene things I've ever done is rappel up a 200-some foot tree and sit in its upper branches while it swaaayed and swaaayed in the wind.

Teach, Learn, Share

I’m not sure what “teach, learn, share” means in this context, but I have taught, I’m a student, and I do share my food?

What I Can Share with Hosts

I have a ton of good (and terrible) jokes, and I’m talented at whipping up a meal out of a fridge that looks like it only has sauce in it.

I’ll absolutely cook for you. I don’t tend to feel at home anywhere until I have buried myself in the kitchen.

Countries I’ve Visited

Canada, France, Hong Kong, Italy, Japan, Mexico, Thailand, United Kingdom, United States
