About Me

CURRENT MISSION

become the best possible me.

ABOUT ME

so much time, so little to say.... wait. scratch that. reverse it.

i'm a world traveller, amateur musician, professional chef, hobbyist visual artist, and avid appreciateur of global culture. there's literally too much to say.

PHILOSOPHY

we are all gibbering tree apes. no exceptions. especially me.

that being said, it never hurts to try and get along.

Interests

music, food, doodles, movies, ninjas, silliness.

i play guitar and sing. i've been studying drums some as well. i cook. i draw. i act silly (but never too rowdy).

Music, Movies, and Books

i like music more than almost anything.

i listen to a wide range of stuff from classical to electro to experimental to jazz to shoegaze to folk to prog-rock to hip hop.

some favourites include miles davis, david bowie, steve reich, blonde redhead, brian burton, squarepusher, bobby mcferrin, heitor villa-lobos, animal collective, ennio morricone, radiohead, kaki king, damon albarn, pink floyd, el-p, jef neve, grizzly bear, mr. oizo, enrico rava, the flaming lips, grachan moncur III, bach, portico quartet, kid koala, sun ra, flying lotus and many many more!

I also love movies. Favourite directors include Terry Gilliam, Jim Jarmusch, Michel Gondry, Wes Anderson, Jim Henson, Jan Svankmajer, Kevin Smith, Sylvain Chomet, Tim Burton, Spike Jonez, Alejandro Jodorowski, Hayao Miyazaki, and Jared Hess.

I read books too. Currently I'm struggling through Douglas Hofstadter's 'Gödel, Escher, Bach: An Eternal Golden Braid." It's a doozy.

Teach, Learn, Share

i'm hoping to learn a little bit about local culture everywhere i go. whether it's a new song, a recipe, a couple of words, or just some local lore i'm a sponge waiting to soak it all up.

i can offer to teach some songs for guitar, some of the recipes i already know. i've probably got a good joke or two you haven't heard too.
