Overview
About Me
CURRENT MISSION
Education, exploration, get this whole career-thing off the ground.
ABOUT ME
American (but hopefully in a good way). 32 years old. In grad school in Europe. Really, the rest of this section pretty much answers this question, and the rest is better discussed over coffee, tea, or beers.
PHILOSOPHY
Seek out truth, beauty, and meaning. Be honorable. I could post lots of cliched quotes from Gandhi, Thoreau, Muir, various Buddhists, and a bucketful of writers, musicians, philosophers, and musicians, but I won't. :)
Why I’m on Couchsurfing
HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING
My grad program keeps me on the move (a semester each in four different cities), so I'm more of a couch seeker these days than a host. However, once my situation changes I'll return the favor. And I'm happy to meet for coffee or a beer when time allows.
COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE
Pretty new to it. Two great experiences so far, one in Czech Republic and one in Copenhagen.
Interests
I'm pretty damn curious about nearly everything. Film, music, photography, fine art, design, architecture, history, literature, travel, cities, wilderness, most sports, surfing, snowboarding, trying new things, meeting new people, having new adventures, etc.

Music, Movies, and Books
movies: Assassination of Jesse James, Field of Dreams, Big Lebowski, anything by Terrence Malick, Stanley Kubrick, Michael Mann, and a million others. Recently discovered Nicholas Winding Refn.
music: Radiohead, Mark Lanegan, Sigur Ros, Iron + Wine, Woven Hand, Ray Lamontagne, Beirut. I grew up with grunge, so still love Pearl Jam and Nirvana and the rest. I like a pretty eclectic mix, but am not especially into hip hop or electronic music.
books: Cormac McCarthy, Pete Dexter, Barry Lopez. Tend toward literary fiction, but am making more of an effort to read popular fiction as well. I've been devouring nonfiction, mostly about history, recently about science. Quantum physics baffles me, but I find it endlessly interesting.
One Amazing Thing I’ve Done
I've been fortunate enough to do and see countless amazing things with a lot of amazing people in quite a few amazing places. But this is a better topic for face-to-face conversation, no?
Teach, Learn, Share
I'll have to think more about this before answering.
