I was born in Canada and have lived in Vancouver most of life, but have travelled to India, Africa, Europe and to many parts of the U.S. I lived in London, England in my twenties and have spent time in NYC. I was a writer (magazines, film, etc.) in the U.K. and Canada for many years, have taught yoga and related workshops in many places and still give small classes, but my main focus now is as a poet, essayist and short fiction writer. Have always been interested in art (am on my way to the Venice Biennale) and love to walk, particularly in New York, London and Paris but also love being by the ocean. Am looking forward to exploring Rome, Florence, Venice and perhaps some small Italian towns.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

I'm traveling on my own, which I don't mind, but I'd like to meet people, practice Italian and learn more about Italian culture.

Music, Movies, and Books

I'm a voracious reader. Right now I'm reading many books by the French writer Annie Ernaux and many contemporary poets. I love Bach and Bartok and some jazz and folk music...a wide range. See a fair number of films, English language and foreign.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

Sailed from Bermuda to Lunenberg, N.S. with two friends in a gaff-rigged ketch, guided by celestial navigation. Travelled through India three times (studied and taught), went to Africa with the Stephen Lewis Foundation.
