About Me

CURRENT MISSION

Discovering the world

ABOUT ME

I got acquainted with Couchsurfing during my Erasmus-year in Olomouc, the Czech Republic, and ever since I'm fond of this alternative travelling-formule. It is a much more interesting way to discover another country/place/culture than by just being the tourist.

I studied history and European Studies, play piano and accordion, like listening to music, writing (reviews, shortstories, blog, diary, ...), jogging, swimming, eating chocolate, drawing, travelling, cooking, partying, and of course hanging out with friends.

PHILOSOPHY

"We may be fighting a losing battle but having a lot of fun in trying to win." (Brownie McGhee)

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING

I think CS is mostly about the philosophy of welcoming people and cultures. In Leuven I hosted friends and CS-guests from different countries (Czech Republic, Iowa, Italy, the Netherlands...). I've been couchsurfing a lot myself in Europe (Poland, Sweden, Czech Republic, Hungary, Spain...) and in Salzburg I'm meeting Austrians/Germans to practice the language with. For me CS is life-enriching.

Books: the Perfume, Captain Corelli's Mandolin, the Shadow of the Wind, the Kite Runner, Daughter of Isfahan, Harry revised, Sprakeloos, Congo, ...

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

One summer me and a good friend of mine hitchhiked all the way from Leuven (quite central in Belgium) to Santander (North of Spain) and from there on we walked to Santiago de Compostela. It was astonishing how many people were willing to help us by providing us a lift, sleeping place, food, ... also our fellow pilgrims were inspiring; this whole trip has definitely 'upgraded' my image of humanity.

Teach, Learn, Share

I could teach you some accordion/piano, make one of my favourite (vegetarian dishes/cakes/pies/..., help you with Dutch, ...
