About Me

CURRENT MISSION

finding out what truly could make the world a better place - that's ambitious I know, so I'd like to start with finding a really good hot chocolate

ABOUT ME

Hey, I am Judith and I am looking forward to meeting you! I am a student and I live in Cottbus, Germany doing my Masters in World Heritage Studies (yep, UNESCO and all that!). Hobbies include reading, writing, taking long walks and holding long talks! I'm also into yoga, running outside, movies, random popcultural references.

I like cooking, and I'm a water person. So I love swimming, being on a boat, sailing, windurfing, but also simply lying on the beach or just walking next to a river! I love learning new stuff, especially bits and pieces of foreign languages- and sharing secrets at 3 a.m in the morning over a glass of red wine. My favourite food is muesli-it's the only thing I can eat anywhere any time. I am not a wise person but I'm collecting other people's wisdom- so go ahead and share your favourite thought with me!

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

it is a great opportunity to meet warm hearted, welcoming, funny and interesting new people from all over the world in person while traveling or hosting. man, that sure the hell does not sound very creative.... but hey I mean it!!! :)

Music, Movies, and Books

Movies: it's so hard to say, really. I would have to refresh this section every month to be up to date with my current favourite - let's just say I go to the movies quite often and my taste is very varied. I like The Embrace of the Serpent, My Best Friend's Wedding, , Lord of the Rings, The Holy Grail, El Secreto de sus Ojos, Pulp Fiction, Sing Street, The Grand Budapest Hotel, but also Disney's Pocahontas - so really, there is no red line here ;)

Books: I mostly read novels and due to my studies, I read (and liked) many of "the classics", but I'm also into newer stuff. Favourite authors include Junot Diaz, Chimanda Ngozi Adichie, Paul Auster, Khaled Hosseini, Oscar Wilde, Edwige Danticat. A novel that I like to give away as a present - and that everybody I have given it to liked without failure -was David Benioff's The City of Thieves.

Music: Bob Marley, Bob Marley, Bob Marley.....besides, whatever floats my boat- I like many different kinds of music, and I prefer listening to world-music radio stations. Some favourite artists: Paolo Nutini, Adele, Jamie Lidell, Mayer Hawthorne, Moop Mama, Arctic Monkeys, Ella Fitzgerald and Louis Armstrong, Carole King, Paul Simon, Miriam Makeba, Amadou and Mariam, Goran Bregovic, Black Föös

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

waking up on the Ghanaian beach and taking a swim in the ocean first thing in the morning!
seeing the glacier Perito Moreno near El Calafate in Patagonia. simply stunning!

Teach, Learn, Share

I like learning about local culture and heritage, so anything from your family history anecdotes to your country's prehistoric remains is what I am interested in.

I am a fan of good stories, be they fictional or non-fictional - and I like to share mine, too.

What I Can Share with Hosts

I can cook my signature dish for you and if you have a guitar or a piano or any type of instrument really, I can sing mediocre (it's not a humble understatement- i dont have a stunning or special voice but I just love singing!) so we can jam together

Countries I’ve Visited

Albania, Argentina, Austria, Bahrain, Belgium, Benin, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Bulgaria, Chile, Czech Republic, Côte d'Ivoire, Denmark, England, France, Ghana, Hungary, Ireland, Italy, Luxembourg, Mexico, Netherlands, Niger, Poland, Scotland, Senegal, Spain, Sweden, Togo, United States
