About Me

CURRENT MISSION

Travel around Europe.

ABOUT ME

I just finished my studies and I'm traveling around Europe for one year, something I've been dreaming to do for a few years. I obviously love to travel and to meet new people. I'd say I'm friendly, curious and passionate about the things I love (read: I can digress about the true meaning of the symbolism in a weird forgotten spaghetti western until everybody else dies of boredom).

PHILOSOPHY

Not really inspired here. I guess I'd say I'm a lucky man in general, and I will make all that I can to use this luck to live a happy life and leave good memories to my fellow humans.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING

I just started! I'm surfing now and hope to be able to host in the future.

COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE

I surfed a litte in Italy and Slovenia, and it's been great so far!

Interests

Literature, from crazy fin de siècle catholic polemists to post-cyberpunk spy novels. I usually walk around listening to an audiobook. I am currently starting The Culture Series by Iain M. Banks and it is delicious SF.

Music, from old-school hip-hop to Ukrainian black metal, from straight-edge hardcore to beautiful and sad folk music. I like music. These days, I'm discovering techno, I can't believe no one ever told me about the wonderful world of Detroit before.

Cinema/TV Shows: I'm constantly discovering new things in that area and I never have the time to watch everything I should. What am I doing writing a profile by the way? I should be watching this Johnnie To movie that has been on my desk for a few weeks. Or rewatching all The Wire, AGAIN. Hmm.

I love theater as well and had the chance to see a few wonderful performances when I lived in Paris and in Milan. I like rollerblading around the city too. And cooking too, should you happen to like food. I am also interested in politics, a wonderful and horribly frustrating subject, and there are few things that I enjoy more than a good discussion about politics with a friend, disagreeing in front of a nice pint of beer until the bar closes.

Music, Movies, and Books

Music: Listing everything would take too much place, but here's some artists I always have a record of around: Leonard Cohen, Nas, Nick Drake, Kyuss, Stupeflip, The Crown, Venetian Snares, Fugazi and The Jesus Lizard.

Movies: my favourite movie is Garde à Vue, by Claude Miller. I loved Le Souffle au Coeur and A Dinner with Andre by Louis Malle, Ran and Rashômon by Kurosawa, Tomboy by Cecile Sciamma, Take Shelter by Jeff Nichols, all the movies I have seen by Clouzot, The New World by Terrence Malick, almost everything by Scorsese, old crazy Honk-Kong movies and cult french comedies such as Le Père Noël Est Une Ordure.

Books: James Ellroy, Céline, Paul Gadenne, Antoine Blondin, Terry Pratchett, Victor Hugo, Racine, Léon Bloy, Cesare Pavese, Vassili Grossman and many more.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

Going for a walk around 6 in the morning in the Carpathians with a friend of mine, after a night spent talking about art and philosophy, meeting a shepherd and crossing his herd of buffaloes, taking a nap near a little torrent. It was a good day in Romania.

Visiting lake Bled in Slovenia, in November, this place is beautiful.

Seeing the acqua alta in Venice, even though I was not prepared for it and was freezing a little, walking barefoot in the water while carrying my shoes and socks.

Teach, Learn, Share

I love to cook and am always happy to share recipes with people. I love to talk about books, science, movies and music, too.
