About Me
CURRENT MISSION
to enjoy the present fully, to spend time with the people i love
ABOUT ME
believer of life's limitless possibilities; cultural relativist, but one who believes in universal ethical truths; slight stature; big ideas; former NGO worker; recently returned from living abroad; have returned with a transformed respect for family and am happily enjoying time with my parents while relaxing and deciding what's next.
PHILOSOPHY
almost all things in moderation; treat others as you want to be treated; learn forgiveness; try daily to identify and diminish ego; the trinity of body, mind and soul
Why I’m on Couchsurfing
HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING
well, to begin I'd like to see what it's all about as I travel in the Western US (most places for the first time in my life). when I get settled somewhere, I'd like to extend the hospitality, offered here and seen elsewhere, to others.
Interests
why and how human beings define and divide themselves into groups, and what impact those divisions have- be they political, economic, social...health and fitness (especially finding alternatives to prescription drugs, antibiotics and otherwise), the media and its power in today's world and how we can re-shape the disturbing trends there (out of context reporting/xenophobia/demonization, etc)
- fitness
- traveling
- communications
Music, Movies, and Books
movies: lately- the best movies I've seen have been Into the Wild, Everything is Illuminated and Khosla ka Ghosla-- but I love Sleepless In Seattle and a bunch of other flicks- a mix of mainstream rom-coms and obscure artsy, thinker numbers. music: mostly soul, r&b and hip-hop, but i also love bluegrass, classical Pakistani music (ghazals, raags... books: currently reading Pride and Prejudice
One Amazing Thing I’ve Done
Can I write about two? 1) seeing unhealthy, toxic relationships transform into something better 2)embracing my father in Islamabad after 17 months apart.
Teach, Learn, Share
i know a good bit about the US NGO sector; I love deciphering human behavior, macro and micro; I'm an expert at the making of sweet potato fries and homemade chicken nuggets; I know how to behave with respect wherever I am (moms and pops taught me that)
