About Me

In October I will change my field of studies (from German as a foreign language to Theology). So right now I am not visiting any classes but trying to earn and save money (the latter will be the harder part :-P). So unfortunately I don't think I can travel much in the next time. But as I have quite some free time, I'd love to hang out with you if you pass through Jena! I'm also accepting guests (under reserve, as I live in a shared flat and I have to check with the girls first)

So just leave me a message, when you plan on visiting lovely Jena!

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

I love to travel all around the world and meet other people. And I realized, no matter where I travelled, the most lasting impressions and best memories aren't about the places I visited but the people I could meet.
I experienced so much hospitality and I would love to continue this kind of travelling and also "repay" it by being a host to somebody and share a little bit of myself.

Interests

Since my major was Japanese studies, I am very interested in Japanese culture and language. My final thesis was about the death penalty in Japanese literature, because I am really interested in these social/human right issues and I love to talk about these things (not only related to Japan).
During my time in Trier I also worked voluntarily at the local Greenpeace group and started to do yoga.
Lately I am also very much in religion (hence my change of subjects).

But of course I am not only about this "serious" stuff :-)
I love laughing, chatting, relaxing in the park, going to parties, singing - and while my internship I started to learn playing the guitar and I am totally into it :-P

I also love to cook and eat – lately more vegetarian, but that’s not must. I am very curious about foreign cuisine and would love to learn your favourite dish (I can also show you typical German dishes - which is not only beer and sausages :p )

Music, Movies, and Books

Like I mentioned above, I'm playing the guitar and I still suck but it's sooo much fun. I also like singing ( in a choir and of course under the shower :-P ) and going to (small) concerts.
I also love to read and try to make myself more time for that but too often I end up watching a movie/serie instead.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

Well, the most amazing time in my life was the year I spent in Japan.
I really enjoyed every single day. Getting to know the culture and the everyday life, eating all this delicious food, traveling around the country, speaking Japanese and experiencing the hospitality of the Japanese people was so great and I think I can profit from this my whole life.

But this is closely followed by my stay in Taize, where I helped as a volunteer for one month. This time showed me, how less (material stuff/luxury) one needs to live a good life when you have good friends around.
And in the beginning of this year I could even intesinfy this experience, as I lived in a small provisorial fraternity, offered by Taize. This meant to live for 1 months with 2 other girls (I've never met before) in a European country I couldn't choose (turned out to be Poland). There we would pray 3 times a day, get to know the community life there and help wherever we are needed. This might sound totally crazy but it was such a great and enriching experience.

Teach, Learn, Share

I can teach you Japanese if you want :P

And since I love food, it would love to cook with you.

I also appreciate every advice you can give me for playing the guitar or doing yoga ;-)
