About Me

I'm a Student at Eindhoven University of Technology in the Netherlands. Right now, I am writing my graduate thesis on trust in the use of algorithms, which will mark the end of my time at uni, having first started studying in 2010! I'm very passionate about technology and its potential to create a better, more sustainable and more equal world.
After finishing my bachelors degree I was lost on what to do next. Instead of just going through with a masters degree I decided to start saving for a 5 month trip abroad. I set off for Bangkok, and after traveling through 4 countries and working for an NGO in Cambodia for two months I extend my trip by another half year. I never thought before embarking on my trip that I would be ending my trip in Georgia, but that really is the fun of traveling... you just never know where you'll end up! During my trip I had awesome Couchsurfing experiences being hosted and meeting up with people in Malaysia, Singapore, South-Korea and Iran.
Since then I've hosted 5 travelers in Eindhoven, finding out that hosting can be just as fun and rewarding an experience as traveling. In 2017 I moved to Sydney for an internship at the Dutch Consulate-General and after returning to the Netherlands I moved to our amazing capital of Amsterdam to start the next chapter in my life.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

I'm the kind of person who loves hanging out with new people and doing random fun shit together. Sometimes it's sightseeing, but other times it can just be staying in all day playing games and being very lazy, because traveling can get really tiring sometimes ;).
In my opinion the best way to experience and get to know a new place and culture is to be with people that live and breathe it everyday. I love listening to peoples stories, about special things, or their everyday lives and learn more about this crazy world we live in. I also love finding out about little hidden gems, outside of the main touristy routes along my travels.

Interests

I watch way too many movies and TV shows, enjoy laying in the grass at any music festival or having a few beers with good company.

Music, Movies, and Books

I'll listen to anything, my iPod is filled with stuff ranging from Years & Years to Queens of the Stone Age and Fleet Foxes to Banks. I do like to listen to other people's music and steal the best songs from their playlists.
As for movies, there are to many to list. I'll watch anything with Julianne Moore or Jake Gyllenhaal.
Oh, and I rarely read books. I know, I'm a terrible person....
