CURRENT MISSION
Autodidactic Advanced Emerging-Adult Peripatetic Remedial Paedeia, Second Semester
ABOUT ME
The name is Nikolas and I am German-American. I just got out of the Peace Corps in Senegal where I worked for three years in Small Business Development and now I am on a trip East in order to learn.
I am a brother, uncle, son, student, vagabond, juggler, teacher, sponge, progressive, RPCV, citizen, member, musician, adventurer, dreamer, sound sleeper, reader, host, intellectual, driver, loner, journeyman, traveler, sinner, dancer, gourmand, drinker, taste tester, acquaintance, mover, man, shaker, mutt, voter, friend, player, correspondent, writer, lover, runner, thinker, guest, hiker, rider, dish washer...
PHILOSOPHY
Cogent philosophy? not quite yet...but let's talk about it over tea. Guiding principles? Plato tells us to mind our own friggin' business. I don't buy that. True wisdom? cookies and milk are delicious. I've also found that being nice to people is helpful, as they'll be nice back.
Pourquoi je suis sur Couchsurfing
HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING
I participated by hosting kind souls overlanding through Senegal and Mauritania on their way to Europe. Now I'm a bit more mobile...
COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE
I've been hosting Peace Corps tramps for years, we just never called it couchsurfing...
I haven't surfed that many couches yet, but I'm having fun hosting people in my delightful apartment in Saint-Louis du Sénégal.

Morceaux de musique, films et livres
Some of my favorites:
Groundhog Day/Slumdog Millionaire, Led Zeppelin/Moby, Die Weisse Rose/Harry Potter
I really enjoy current non-fiction books as well as episodes on human history. I particularly appreciate those rare authors who can weave a cogent web with the wisdoms of diverse disciplines.
There's nothing better than reading a happy book--you know those that have been studied and loved by so many eager folks that they become ripped and tattered--and subsequently put back together with Alabama Chrome (duct tape).
Une aventure extraordinaire que j'ai vécue
Breathing. West African hospitality.

To teach: I can show you how to hypnotize a chicken. More useful perhaps, bring me some salsa tunes, a solid guitar, or devil sticks and lessons are free.
To learn: I would be particularly interested in meeting people who have silversmithing experience. An embarrassement to me and my country, I cannot drive a stick so would appreciate clando lessons if given the opportunity.
