About Me
CURRENT MISSION
To find a great personal mission. :)
ABOUT ME
I lived most of my life in the midwest, taking a break from college to make my first trip to Europe. I was hooked! I moved to Richmond in 1998. I love traveling and people watching is an all-time favorite pastime. Whitewater kayaking and cycling take me outside, which is where I love to be. I do not smoke and am likely a rabid ex-smoker.
PHILOSOPHY
I take it one day at a time, and most days are pretty ok.
Why I’m on Couchsurfing
HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING
By offering a couch in the Capital of the Confederacy in a way I'd want a couch offered to me, and by trying to be a good surfer when I infrequently do. By leaving references for everyone I meet with a couchsurfing profile - references really make this site work. If you ask to stay or even if you don't, let me know what you think about this: is there such a thing as "reference etiquette?" Should the surfer leave the first review, then the host?
COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE
I've hosted several couchsurfers and been hosted once and all of these experiences have been fantastic.

Music, Movies, and Books
I like most movies no matter how stupid or ridiculous. Feelgood and underdog movies are always a hit; comedies, too. Science of Sleep, Eternal Sunshine of a Spotless Mind, Billy Elliot, The Piano, Frida, Babe, Forrest Gump, Pulp Fiction, Snatch, most anything zombie, foreign and indie films - the list could go on forever.
Music includes hipster/alt indie junk and 80s (Joy Division, Wilco, Neutral Milk Hotel, Beck, Beasties) and discooooo.
One of the last books I read that I still think a lot about is Under the Banner of Heaven by Jon Krakauer.
One Amazing Thing I’ve Done
Traveled in Europe solo. I met the most fantastic people and saw wonderful things.
Teach, Learn, Share
I can teach you how to kayak, quiet an unruly dog, get rid of hiccups and be a goofball. I learn something from everyone I meet and most things I do.
Countries I’ve Visited
