Hey, I'm 28 years old and grew up in northern Germany.
After passing school I did a 3 year apprenticeship on a container vessel to become a ships mechanic. It was the best decision because I love that technical work and besides that I got the opportunity to travel the world. I was working as a ships mechanic for a while and now I'm studying marine engineering to become a chief engineer one day ;-)
I love traveling and meeting new people and to see different cultures. I love nature and to be outside.
I'm not a partygoer or big drinker. Which doesn't mean I don't drink, go out or enjoy music. But I would prefer a beer with some friends at the beach with campfire than a big club.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

I made this account in 2012 when I went to Austria. But I did't use it because I slept at a friends flat. In 2016 I went to south east asia but also there was no opportunity for couch surfing. At the moment I live in a small studio apartment and therefore unfortunately I can not host guests. But I am always looking forward to meet new people and would appreciate to show you round Hamburg.

Interests

I am a real peoples person, I love to meet new people from different parts of the world with different backgrounds and new cultures. It is interesting to explore how backgrounds make people tick.
Politics and history are not my thing though, unfortunately.
Nature and the environment are important to me.
Also I like natural sciences :)

Music, Movies, and Books

I love music and listen to many different styles of music. I like classical music with piano and I like music with guitar. I also like house, electro, drum'n'base and hip hop, especially some German Hip hop. Salsa and Latin america music is nice too. Sometimes I also listen to Rock, Metal or Reggae. It depends on my mood what listen to :)

Movies: V like Vendetta, Samsara, Into the wild

Books: hmm I need to start reading more ;-) I like the books from François Lelord :) And I liked the book "Manual of The Warrior of Light"

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

I had many amazing experiences during my apprenticeship on a container vessel...
After crossing the Pacific Ocean for 3 weeks we reached the harbor of Valparaíso (Chile) during the night and all the lights in the mountains looked like thousands of candles (sounds kitschy...but it was so beautiful).
I also met so many friendly people, especially in South Amerika.
I saw sea lions, dolphins, whales and fluorescent plankton.

Once I went to Jamaica 10 days before I had to sign on my ship there and I got robbed right after my arrival. They stole everything, also my passport with my brand-new Visa for the USA. I had nothing, not even a toothbrush or clothes to change. But I met some great people who helped me through this situation, I managed to get a new passport within the 10 days and I stayed at a beautiful very simple place in the jungle right on the cliffs. It was a hard/new/good experience which taught me that I need the right people around me and not my belongings to be happy.

And another great experience was my time in China. I was living and working there for 5 month and have fallen in love with the country, particularly with the city Nantong :)
