ABOUT ME
I used to live in Austin and I miss it a lot. Now I'm in Houston. I love my neighborhood and my apartment, but it doesn't really compare to Austin for outdoors or music. I love being outside, being active. I work at a school, so I have good chunks of time for traveling and road trips.
Why I’m on Couchsurfing
HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING
I go to meetups when I can. Whenever someone starts talking about travel plans I encourage them to look into couchsurfing. I have good intentions for hosting, but don't have the right apartment for it just yet.
COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE
An old friend of mine was/is a pretty active couchsurfer, and I met some couchsurfers in Portland through him. We also couchsurfed in Boise and Salt Lake City on the drive back to Austin. I decided to join because I wanted to get more involved, and have since met up with couchsurfers in London and Bangkok, and done some roadtrip surfing.

Music, Movies, and Books
Books- Vonnegut, Kingsolver, Ishiguro, Atwood. I'll give most books a chance. I like reading poetry and short stories (I was pretty impressed by the couple of David Foster Wallace stories I read this summer).
Music- Josh Ritter, Townes Van Zandt, The Mountain Goats, X, The Kills, Metric, Yeah Yeah Yeahs, Of Montreal, Sam Cooke, Johnny Cash
Movies- Amelie, Donnie Darko, Gentlemen Prefer Blondes. Right now, though, I'd take The Office or 30 Rock over most movies. Also love Weeds, Dexter, and Arrested Development.
One Amazing Thing I’ve Done
I saw a black bear and a humpback whale up close, petted a tiger, and tubed through the jungle in Thailand. I went to India with my grandmother and her sister, Margaret, and saw their childhood home-- and the tree next to it, where Margaret shot a leopard.
Teach, Learn, Share
Knitting, yoga, and horseback riding (although I cannot provide the horses, sadly).
