About Me
CURRENT MISSION
it's all about making the world a better place, for ourselves too - and about collecting couchsurfing jokes!
ABOUT ME
We are a married couple, Julie and Gabor. We want to see the world and are happy to help others in doing the same, we like making other people feel at home, we like to go for a drink (not necessarily alcoholic - don't expect booze bonanza from us) and chat for hours!
We met in Paris, lived in Hungary, moved to Ireland, then to Cyprus, and now might have settled in Wales. We have been to Guadeloupe, Greece, Spain, Italy, the Czech Republic, Slovakia, Bulgaria, Poland, Croatia, Austria, Germany, Belgium, Denmark, Switzerland, Canada, US and India to name a few (even Liechtenstein!), either together or before we met.
PHILOSOPHY
The world is our oyster! We want to feel good and enjoy ourselves, and we want to make it easy for others to feel good and enjoy themselves! We define ourselves as citizens of the world, and are convinced that there is more to globalization than capitalism!
ADVICE
We have requests from time to time to come and stay with us for one day. That is fine if you are on a tour of Wales, moving by little steps, but if you are further away, it might be a bit difficult - please consider that it is 3 hours to get here from Birmingham, and 2 from Shrewsbury.
Why I’m on Couchsurfing
HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING
Had a small tour of Ireland using CS, great experience, great people. Had a crazy month of receiving in Budapest (19 persons in 21 days), excellent but tiring. Hosted quite a lot in Ireland. Many social events in Cyprus. Some additional surfing experiences in the UK, USA and in Canada. Usually people like us, unless of course they are all lying in their testimonials.
Our couch will be reopened now in Wales. We are quite busy pretty much all the time, but will try to find time for you if we feel you are our kind of people ;)
COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE
It is an excellent idea, really love it. Though it helps when both sides are more or less organized :)
Interests
Travels, languages (as you can see on our profile!), literature/music/the arts, of course, with a preference for books, salsa, walking/hiking/trekking, watching dumb videos on YouTube and making awful cross-language jokes!

We will tell you live.
One Amazing Thing I’ve Done
Most recently: orcas jumping around under the sunset next to Vancouver island (Gabor), sunset from Kantara castle, looking over the entire island (both).
Teach, Learn, Share
We can teach French and Hungarian, we're native speakers. (We indicate this here for French visitors: if you write your request in English we take it as evidence you did not read our profile!) We're also ready to share our various experiences: we won't give you a resume here, it'd be a bit long, but if we do have the piece of information you're missing, we'll provide it! Also, we are curious to know other people and their interests... well, we are open to (almost) everything...
During 2012 we were giving salsa lessons to CS friends :)
