About Me

Hello, Hola & Hallo :)

I’m Julia from Germany — an open, social person with a love for travelling and meeting new people. I speak German, English and Spanish. I usually travel solo, so I’m independent and can enjoy my own company, but I equally love shared moments, good conversations, and experiencing a place through the eyes of locals.

I’m a proud Rheinländerin — a cheerful, friendly spirit who enjoys a bit of humor and a warm atmosphere wherever I go. I don’t smoke, and I value respectful, safe, and comfortable environments.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

I love travelling and discovering new places, but the most memorable experiences come from connecting with locals. I’m here to meet people, learn about their lives and culture, share stories, and enjoy mutual cultural exchange. A warm, respectful, and open-minded atmosphere is very important to me.

Interests

After traveling live concerts are one of my biggest passions (Fun fact: went a bit crazy in 2024 by visiting 21 concerts 😅) I also love cooking and baking, especially for friends and family. I enjoy being surrounded by people, sharing laughter, stories, and fun moments.

I’m a huge dog lover and am planning to volunteer in a dog shelter in Guatemala — I love combining travel with giving back and being around animals.

When I travel, I love to wander through streets and neighborhoods, soaking up the vibe and discovering hidden gems. I enjoy a mix of cities and nature, and while I’m not the most extreme adventurer, I occasionally like to challenge myself.

Music, Movies, and Books

I’m not the biggest reader — but I love music. I used to sing (not very active anymore, but I’d join any jam session anytime). My taste is mostly indie, alternative and latino — but it’s actually quite broad.

Movies are harder to define — but Hotel Rwanda is definitely one of the most impactful I’ve seen. I’m more of a series person anyway… and I might be one of the best binge-watchers out there.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

Honestly, almost every trip has been a “life-changing” experience, so it’s hard to pick just one.

But recently, spending my birthday on the Ha Giang Loop was unforgettable — total strangers made the day incredibly special, reminding me how kind and generous people can be.

Teach, Learn, Share

I love learning from the people I meet — their stories, habits, recipes, or little life hacks. Every person has something unique to share, and I enjoy exchanging experiences and perspectives. I’m always up for trying something new — whether it’s a local dance move, a secret coffee spot, or a funny saying. And of course, I love sharing my own stories too.

What I Can Share with Hosts

I’m happy to share language skills (German tandem), cook or bake for you, and show you how to prepare traditional dishes. I can also give tips, advice, and personal recommendations for any country I’ve visited — not just Germany! I’m always excited to exchange travel stories, experiences, and ideas for exploring new places.
