About Me

My name is Julia and I'm originally from Villach which is in the south of Austria. Right now I live in the states since september 2014. I've been living in Washington DC for year and since september 2015 I live on the Westcoast in Redwood City, close to San Francisco!

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

I heard so many good things about couchsurfing. Meeting up with new, interesting people from all over the world sounds great. If you go to a new place or city you get to see the most if you are with a person that lives there or if this person could tell you where to go and what to see from their point of view as they propably lived there all their lifes! :)
I also think with couchsurfing you'll meet a lot of new people which will become your friends in a short period of time as you experience a lot of stuff together.
In August 2015 I did my first few couchsurfings with my friend as we were hitchhiking in Canada!

Interests

That's quiet simple, I'm actually interested in everything that makes me happy. A few years ago a huge interest in my life started to be travelling. I travelled a lot with my parents but since I'm here in the US on my own now I started to enjoy travelling on my own and with friends, to see new places and cultures.

Music, Movies, and Books

People that are not that interested in music say 'I listen to everything'. I am a little interested though and can say that there is something in every genre that I like. Music is really important in my life, sometimes I listen to songs and get a flashvack to the past - that's what I really like about it :)
I used to read a lot, right now I'm stucked a little but I hope I'll come back to it at some point!

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

There are so many amazing things I've already done with my 20 years - I really appreciate the fact that I had that possibility! I guess the most amazing thing was the trip to China - Beijing and Shanghai - in August 2014. This culture was just so different to everything I've seen so far. The people, the landscape, the houses ... everything was just not like Europe or America which was an amazing adventure.

Teach, Learn, Share

I guess you can learn the most if you travel the world and read. Every person you meet has a new interesting story to share, every new culture you experience has their own points of view to life. Experiencing time with different people from all over the world and see a lot of new places is propably the most interesting thing - that's what makes travelling so great! :)
As I'm a kindergartenteacher I'm also really interested in kids, to see how they develop and how you can help them through education.

What I Can Share with Hosts

I could offer them a lot of great stories and could also cook something typical austrian if they want me to :)
