About Me
Hello, my name is Julia Kim. I am a South Korean living in Hungary, and I’ve been residing in Europe for nearly ten years. I currently balance both academic studies and business activities while living with my husband and our two children as a family of four.
I’ve always had a deep interest in people. I find genuine joy and fulfillment when I engage in meaningful conversations and feel that I can have a positive influence on others. This passion naturally led me to pursue a PhD in Coaching and Mentoring, where I explore how we can support individuals more effectively through human-centered and collaborative approaches.
Since I encountered God, I’ve come to understand how incredibly unique and valuable each person is. This realization has deepened my desire to learn more about people and to support them with greater empathy and care. I am someone who is continuously learning, growing, and hoping to make a positive difference in the lives of others through my work and daily interactions.
I've traveled to more countries than I can easily list, and I truly consider myself someone who loves traveling with all my heart. Since there's a section asking me to write down all the places I've visited — and it's honestly too many to name, I hope you don't mind if I leave it blank.
Why I’m on Couchsurfing
Hello! As I mentioned earlier, I’m currently pursuing my PhD at Oxford Brookes University in the UK. My research focuses on how we can make high-quality coaching more accessible to a wider audience. That question led me to explore the integration of AI into coaching – not to replace the human connection, but to enhance and support it.
With a desire to give back to my home country, I decided to focus this research on Korean university students. But you may be wondering – what does this have to do with Hungary?
Well, since I live in Hungary and can’t physically meet every participant, I came up with a meaningful idea: a coaching journey that combines travel, personal growth, and cross-cultural experience. Participants will have the chance to stay at my home, explore other European countries, and receive one-on-one coaching to help them rediscover themselves.
We’ve gathered 10 outstanding professional coaches in Korea who will provide weekly online coaching sessions (30 to 60 minutes) from late June to early August. These sessions will help you navigate personal challenges like stress, career decisions, and emotional wellbeing. On top of that, you’ll also interact with a specially trained AI chatbot that supports your progress between human sessions—making the coaching even more impactful.
Sounds like something you'd love to try, right?
I remember my own days of backpacking and traveling the world when I was a university student. That spirit of curiosity and adventure is something I deeply understand—and I believe this opportunity will speak to that part of you.
If you’re interested in joining, feel free to reach out! I’ll guide you through the next steps, and we can also explore how you might be able to take part in this travel opportunity.
Just one important note: this program is open only to Korean nationals aged 18–29.
I truly believe this could be a once-in-a-lifetime experience—one that can help you grow, reflect, and find direction for your future.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done
One of the best things I’ve ever done in my life is becoming a mother to my children. Walking with God has shown me how truly blessed I am, and through that, I’ve come to love myself even more.
Teach, Learn, Share
"In a world where peace and love guide us, we see the true value of people through respect, through curiosity, and through the questions we are brave enough to ask.
