About Me

I’ve just finished studying art history in Aberdeen, Scotland and I’m about to move to Berlin. I’d love to follow Sophie Calle’s idea of living in the multiple cities in the span of few years and stay in each for approximately a year. This way I’d love to get to know other cultures and languages by the first-hand experience. Berlin is going to be my first destination.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

I want to get to know new people, talk to them about their cultures and learn new experiences while travelling.

Interests

I'm interested in art, especially contemporary - the kind that not necessarily appeals to me aesthetically but makes me think and affects my type of sensitivity. I keenly exchange letters and write poetry. Among my other interests are languages, butterflies and cryptographic algorithms.

Music, Movies, and Books

If it’s about music, I am mostly into new wave, dream pop and alternative rock. My favourite artists are David Bowie, Antony and the Johnsons, Björk, Timber Timbre and This Mortal Coil.

From literature I like poetry as I feel it allows for an extraordinarily delicate and precise expression. Apart from that, I am both into fiction and non fiction, but I prefer stories about lives of ordinary people. My beloved writers or poets are: Julio Cortazar, Vladimir Nabokov, Zbigniew Herbert, Sylvia Plath.

I enjoy watching movies that are poetic and artistic, I like art-house cinema as well. Among my favourite movies are Spike Jonze’s „Her”, Bergman’s „Wild Strawberries”, Sorrentino’s „The Great Beauty” or a really recent Hungarian production „On Body and Soul”. From the Polish directors I admire Polański and Kieślowski.

Teach, Learn, Share

I am always keen on getting to know new people and having long discussions about art, film, literature or philosophy.
