About Me

If you want to go somewhere, sometimes you have to go yourself!

I'm into art, music, community engagement and all sorts of fun things (not to mention beer!!).

Having moved back to Calgary recently from Montreal, I'm anxious to see new places and explore.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

I can't think of a better way to travel on a budget and meet people than couch surfing.

I am newly approaching traveling alone to broaden my horizons and go places I wouldn't otherwise!

Interests

I am a huge lover of live music, and I am particularly into acoustic sets. Beer and coffee culture is another one of my loves, mostly on the side of enjoying rather than creating ;). I'd love to hone my barista skills one day.

Presently I work at a museum, and whenever I visit a new place I make sure to see the top museums and art galleries. The peaceful atmosphere for contemplation is something I always return to.

Nature is another area I like to indulge in. I'm learning to hike and at present I can do beginner to intermediate hikes. I climbed Hai Ling Peak near Canmore, AB and this was by far the hardest hike I've ever done.

Music, Movies, and Books

Music:
Anything atmospheric or melodic. Great lyrics are a bonus.
Just a few bands I like: Mew, Pavement, Yo La Tengo, Sigur Ros, Jesus and the Mary Chain, Karkwa

Movies:
I tend to go for foreign and indie films.

Books:
Douglas Coupland has been my favourite so far.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

It is hard to narrow it down to one amazing thing! And our definition of amazing changes over time.

Recently I taught a documentary video class to adults with disabilities. They showed me what amazing is - keeping strong in the face of adversity and maintaining the courage to share.

Teach, Learn, Share

I have taught docu video (basic), environmental education (mostly regarding birds) and essay writing in the past.

I'd like to learn French, new recipes, new philosophies, and what people are calling "life hacks" these days.

What I Can Share with Hosts

Cooking, some French language skills (convo partner!), baking, can answer any questions you have about Canada

Countries I’ve Visited

Denmark, England, France, Germany, Ireland, Italy, Netherlands, Sweden

Countries I’ve Lived In

England
