Overview
About Me
Hi! My name is Julia and I am currently doing my masters in Fashion Marketing in London, UK. I originally hail from Toronto, Canada.
** I going traveling so I am unavailable to do any hosting...
I have lived in Canada most of my life, but traveled the world with my undergrad university (majored in Psych and International Studies) and am now doing fashion- although my primary interest is in sustainable fashion, CSR, and communications.
PHILOSOPHY
I look for the thin spaces and experiences in life.
Treat others as you would like to be treated. Be kind, be adventurous, be flexible.
Why I’m on Couchsurfing
I am very new to couch surfing, but am really excited an interested in the world of opportunity it opens up and the people to meet!
I enjoy connecting with new people, and I think that couch surfing is a wonderful way to get insight and new perspectives on different areas of the world. I also love that this is a kind of community, where you meet and can share your little slice of life.
Interests
In a nutshell, I love to travel, read, cook, sew, and swing dance.
I also enjoy thrifting, and vintage shopping, looking for the potential in a garment, and altering it to fit my vision. One of my favourite things is urban foraging; I have found wild cherry trees in London, as well as fig trees, and am keeping an eye on the ripening raspberry/blackberry bushes that are in a park near my house.
I also really enjoy listening to different podcasts, they are great for long commutes, and learning about so many different and interesting subjects that you would never really think about otherwise.
I have started running quite regularly, but I think that is mainly to deal with the stress of dissertation writing.. but now I enjoy it, so all's well that ends well.

Music, Movies, and Books
Oh gosh, I am currently on an 80's kick movie wise- have been watching Ferris Beuller's Day Off, The Girl in Pink, Saint Elmo's Fire, Say Anything...
I also love period classics, mini series (Sherlock!), and a good superhero movie.
Music-wise I usually listen to more folky things, although what I enjoy ranges from Florence and the Machine, to Michael Jackson, to Taylor Swift.
Books- I am currently doing my masters so I am devouring books on methodology, research, analysis, and tons of articles on my subject (Identity, Fashion, Authenticity). But other than that I will try almost anything. Some of my favourites are Ender's Game, The Hobbit, most stuff by Ted Dekker or John Grisham. And I love the Princess Bride!
One Amazing Thing I’ve Done
Eaten durian and liked it.
Teach, Learn, Share
Cooking, Sewing, Crafting... I love to make things, and I love to make and try new foods.
I also love photography, and swing dancing!
What I Can Share with Hosts
I love to just talk and get to know people, to understand how they see the world and their place in it.
I also really enjoy photography, so I would totally be up for doing photo adventures..
If you have never gone swing dancing and were interested, I would love to find a place and do that, it is such a joyful, fun dance to learn. I would also love to learn new dances...
I am currently living in London, so if there is something particular you wanted from the UK I could likely bring it (esp. if it is something foody!)
