About Me

Hi, I'm Julia, 20 years old and I finished school last year.
I come from Leipzig, a beautiful city in the east of Germany, where I was born and grew up. I was living as an Au Pair in Cairo, Egypt till the end of January with a very nice family and afterwards i was working as a german teacher in a german kindergarden in the center of Cairo.
Taking care of the kids and playing with them as an au pair gave me a lot of joy. The rich Egyptian culture, and especially the Egyptian food is very dear to my heart. You can discovers new things every day and I have got to know some wonderful people and places here. Since I've been there I have developed a huge interest in yoga and meditation as in art and craft things as well.

Actually my plan was to start studying in autum this year, but tere are still so many things i want to discover and learn, so i decided to extend my gab year for another year traveling around. Also I changed my mind about the subject fot my studies in university from social work to politics but still not 100% sure if i really wanna do this or not. As you can see there are many reasons to take another year "off" and there are so many things on my To do list i despretly want to lern or try!
So right now i'm traveling trough Spain doing workaways and trying couchsurfing for the first time! But the Main reason is to refresh spanish wich i learned in school but unfortunatly almost forgot everything...
In winter I'm gonna escape from the cold german weather and discover India instead :)

More info's about me personally in the box "about my interests"

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

I love traveling, getting to know other cultures/people, improving my English/Spanish and meeting new people. I think CS is perfect for all of that! :)

Interests

From the autumn of next year (2017), I would like to study politics and later have a profession that deals with integration and the equalization of social injustice.
I am very close to nature and sporting activities, for example, I take care of the flowers and herbs in our garden and doing Pilates together with my sister. I love to meet my friends, to go on cycling tours with them and relaxing at a picnic outside in the park in the evening.
On the other hand, I enjoy it too, when I'm all to myself and can read a book or listen to music. My greatest passion is, I think, baking and cooking! I really love it and I'm very excited about other countrys cuisines.
Personally, I have been a vegetarian for almost three years now. I also do a lot of experimenting in the kitchen.

I am a very open person. At the beginning, I can be a little shy, but that goes usually very rapidly. Also, I'm very eager to learn, especially in nutrition, sustainability, history, politics, environment, taking care of animals, gardening and Yoga & Meditation. I am curious and open to new experiences. I am also very straightforward and optimistic about pretty much everything. :D I'm looking forward to an exciting journey in Spain,India and probably eastern europe in spring, but i'm not sure about it yet, just another idea in my head, hope to make a lot of new acquaintances.
I want to learn from new experiences and see the real beauty of the world.
