About Me

I love making food + strange noises, musical and otherwise. My pastimes are rabble-rousing for climate justice, crafting, and attempting to learn how to use a skill-saw. I love both solitude and sharing experiences with people - let me cook for you and tell me about your life.

I grew up in so-called Canada, in both a small town and bigger city, alternating every half-year: Haida Gwaii, land of the Haida Nation; and the unceded territory of the xʷməθkʷəy̓əm (Musqueam), Sḵwx̱wú7mesh (Squamish) and səlil̓wətaʔɬ (Tsleil-Waututh) peoples (also known as Vancouver). I am a settler on Haida territory and strive to continue earning the privilege to call it home for the rest of my life.

My degree is in environmental biology - then I realized how utterly pointless my formal education has been in teaching me about fighting the system and all that jazz. I coordinate programming in the community related to media arts, climate crisis, food security, solidarity activism, and outdoor recreation.

I'm a serial instrument-tryer with a poor record of commitment. Currently learning guitar, harmonica, drums, ukulele, and banjo, with a piano background, and quite sucky at (but infatuated with) all of them. Can't wait to see your musical skills (or, if not, your musical tastes).

Generally just trying to get through life joyfully and not take myself or anything too seriously.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

I joined Couchsurfing because of its community culture of mutual aid. One of the best parts of life is having spontaneous experiences with new people; opening yourself up to an entire life history and worldview. Some of my most pivotal conversations in life have been with couchsurf hosts. Travel has no meaning for me without developing a bond with a new person (although a solid month alone in the forest can certainly do good once in a while).
