Why I’m on Couchsurfing
HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING
I've been shy so far - and living in Swaziland hasn't given me too many chances to host! Occasionally looking for places to surf around South Africa (and the US when I'm back home). Hope I can return the favor soon.
COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE
I've met up with Couch surfers in my hometown and had a great time!
Interests
On the serious side, I'm a grad student studying global health. I can't learn enough about nutrition and HIV/AIDS, and have lived in East and Southern Africa where I hope to continue to work on these issues. I like maps and GIS too.
For fun, I love to cook and listen to live music of all kinds. I'm equally happy to spend a sunny afternoon reading outside or to go dancing late into the night.
Swimming is always a good idea - pool, ocean, river, lake - I'm in!
Just ran my first 10k race and excited to do more.

Music, Movies, and Books
I love Parks and Recreation, 30 Rock, The Wire, Newsroom, Veep, gangster movies, and Up.
My favorite recent read is What is the What, David Eggers. David Foster Wallace and Roald Dahl are also favorite authors of mine.
One Amazing Thing I’ve Done
My dad sings in a men's gospel choir in North Philly--I'm not religious, but when I hear him and his buddies fill the church up with their voices, I just can't stop smiling.
I studied in Botswana as an undergrad and was fortunate to go on safari in the Okavango Delta. After dinner and storytelling around our campfire on a remote island, I remember staring at the incredible night sky through my mosquito mesh and listening to lions roar in the distance. I didn't sleep for a long time, partly from fear but mostly out of amazement.
In Tofo, Mozambique, I swam with whale sharks
