About Me

Hello there and welcome!

Currently living in Berne, 15 minutes from the famous old town, together with my partner. 2 minutes from our flat there is a beautiful park/cemetery as well as a good (a bit fancy) coffee place. Also, the main station can be reached within 6 minutes by bus or 15 minutes by foot.

Considering myself a curious, fun- and adventure-loving person who enjoys getting to know new people, environments, food, languages and who is very much interested in cultural events and topics.
Beneath that, I like best being outside and discovering nature, spending time close by and in the water. If you come to Berne during summer (in between the end of May and beginning of September), you will be able to take a swim in the local river Aare (https://www.bern.com/de/aare/fluss-schwimmen). This is one of the coolest things to do in Berne! :)

I studied German and Spanish literature and linguistics as well as Anthropology at the University of Zurich and have worked in the fields of Communication and as a Program coordinator for different NGOs.

A much loved dream of mine is to swim next to a blue whale (that would certainly be the cream on my hot brownie!)

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING

Shortly before turning 18, I spent 6 months living in Anchorage, Alaska where I met two couchsurfers on a mountain. Somehow they told me about CS and as soon as turning 18, I signed up for it. It just sounded like a completely new world to me, very interesting, very seductive.

I'm interested in many things and very easy to fascinate. To see how life can be lived differently in other countries, has - since I can think back - been a real big interest of mine.

COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE

I'm very thankful and delighted to already have had some absolutely great and unforgettable experiences with CS!
My coolest CS experience was definitely biking to Paris with a friend and staying there with a wonderful host (who turned out to also be a big bike lover, a great cook, trip-advisor, etc.!)

Later on, I went to Brazil where I "surfed couches" in Manaus, Belém and Rio de Janeiro.

Teach, Learn, Share

I found out that I love to teach what I can (for example German or how to cook Swish dishes), therefor I'll be delighted to teach you some German.

Secondly, I love kids. I've been a babysitter for more than 10 years, sitting in many different families, which was definitely fun and inspiring!

I'd be delighted to be get to know CSers with kids and to bring the CS spirit among them as well!

What I Can Share with Hosts

(Traditional) Swiss recipes (I believe I make good chocolate cakes)
German lessons
Games to play
I can create a Swiss music playlist for you;-) I believe we have some "good" musicians.
I'll be a good partner for any outdoor activity - dog walks, frog observation, fishing, frisbee games, but also basket ball or any farming activity.
My "problem" is that I am afraid of heights :-o.
