Hi you there! Julia here :)

I am a very curious person, which facilitates learning in several areas. I'm easygoing and hardly ever get bored, because I deal well with it *years of therapy*. I was always a pretty active kid, but I grew up a quiet adult. I love animals. I really like to cook. I'm fond of reading and writing and I can't imagine my life without studying or participating in some cultural activity and because of that, I'm always gravitating towards learning new languages. Officially, I'm a Linguist with a degree in Brazilian and Portuguese Literature.
I can communicate in Portuguese and English, and I can read some things in Spanish and French too (just a little bit).
I have been living in The Netherlands as an aupair since september of 2023. And therefore I started to learn the Dutch language by myself.
An interesting thing about me, is that, because of college, I did some courses in Latin, so I can actually read old churchs' walls and such :D.
I'm very dedicated and create bonds easily. I like being around people and would be a pleasure having friends from different cultures.
In addition to all that, in 2016 I took a makeup course and I'm an enthusiastic makeup artist. I think life is too short to like just one thing!!

Pourquoi je suis sur Couchsurfing

I'm on couchsurfing because after living in the Netherlands with an aupair visa, I'm gonna start my tourist visa. There are so many places out there and I want to get the maximum out of this world.
I believe couchsurfing is a great opportunity to get to know people, to make friends and to share experiences.
Of course, it also helps people short on money, especially if they're young and more focused on getting acquaintance with new places and new ways of living.

IMPORTANT: Right now, I'm not taking people in because I'm not living in a place that is mine! I'm also being hosted for another family :)

Morceaux de musique, films et livres

I'm a huge fan of rock classics, pink floyd, beatles, rolling stones, led zeppeling... But I do love the pop divas, I like indie, the grung-y punk-ish green day. I love Etta James and Aretha Franklin 's voices. My favorite must be brazilian popular music, I love our samba, our jazz, our tropicalia generation.
I do not like horror movies, inside I feel like a child and I'd have very vivid dreams about it, so I avoid those.
I love rom-com (I have seen it so many). I like dramas. I think The Office is my favorite sitcom, I like Friends too, they taught me english :)
Well, when talking about books, I feel that things get a little bit trickier, cuz I actually have read a lot. One that stands out is The Stranger (L'Étranger) (O estrangeiro) from Albert Camus, and The son of a thousand Men (O filho de mil homens), from Valter Hugo Mãe (one of the most beautiful books I've ever read).

Une aventure extraordinaire que j'ai vécue

Moving abroad is actually one of the things that make me so proud of myself. I left Brazil thinking I needed a year off after graduating, and I found myself. I've learned so many new things. This experience broke me open, it's been amazing so far. I feel like I belong everywhere.

Ce que j'aimerais partager avec mes hôtes

I don't know what I can share other than myself. I'd be more than willing to teach some brazilian dishes or exchange some portuguese classes, it would be a pleasure!
As a makeup artist, for those interested, I can definitely provide a personal make up course, where you would learn how to do your daily make up and get updated in some tricks :))

And of course, if things go well, I'm very good at friendships, it would be a pleasure to guest people in Brazil or anywhere else where I might end up living :))
