About Me

Trying to figure out ways of being useful to society and the planet. Ideas anyone?

Currently I am based in Frankfurt, Germany, where I grew up, though I've spent most of my adult life in Berlin. Travelling has always been a passion for me and I try to visit new places (or ones I enjoyed a lot) as much as my busy work schedule allows. When I'm not discovering new countries, I like to get to know people from around the world, get to know new cultures and chat about the interesting things in life. Although Frankfurt is not a place which attracts many visitors, it has a charming side which I'm happy to share with new friends who stop by. If you want to check out the tavern with the neighing horse inside, get in touch!

GENTLEMEN: If you're looking for a hookup, please move on. Thank you!

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

Recently I went on a long trip after some years of not going abroad a lot. This experience has renewed my passion for meeting people from all over the world and learn about them and their cultures. Staying in hostels and guest houses is fun and a great way to mingle with fellow travellers. On the few occasions when I was lucky enough to be in the company of locals, I really enjoyed sharing their intimate knowledge of a place and benefitting from their insider tips. So for my next trip, I'm looking forward to meeting people on couchsurfing, be it for drinks, a night out or to stay over. I'm also happy to meet people from other places to get inspired for my next trip!

Interests

All of pop culture, basically. Books, films, music, the wild beast called the internet. I also like history and love visiting places with an interesting past. After a glass of wine of two, I also love discussing profound matters of life.

Music, Movies, and Books

Too much to list comprehensively. A few examples: any book by David Foster Wallace and E. L. Doctorow, all films by Wong Kar-Wai and Jim Jarmush. Music of almost any genre that goes beyond formulas, currently a lot of Samba and Bossa Nova.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

Learned Portuguese with an app within three months to prepare for a trip through Brazil

Teach, Learn, Share

I give great advice on relationships because I've had the fortune of the view from outside most of my life ;) Other than that, I'm a source of useless but fun information. If you want to know how bats mate or what the difference between a privateer and a buccaneer is, ask me!

What I Can Share with Hosts

A fun, outgoing and curious personality, sense of cleanliness and some cooking skills. Probably a lot of other things I find hard to specify, so please feel free to ask!

Countries I’ve Visited

Belgium, Brazil, Canada, China, France, Georgia, Greece, Indonesia, Israel, Italy, Malaysia, Netherlands, Philippines, Portugal, Romania, Singapore, Spain, Thailand, Trinidad and Tobago, United Kingdom, United States, Uzbekistan

Countries I’ve Lived In
