About Me

ABOUT ME

I'm a journalist/culinary school dropout living in Nevada (not Las Vegas). I spent the first two years out of college at a cubicle job in Washington, D.C., before growing really unhappy and deciding to quit. I spent six months in West Africa (Senegal) freelancing in 2011. I survived the transition from cubicle to developing country thanks to all the incredibly kind and knowledgeable people I met through Couch Surfing. Now working in radio and living in the Western U.S. with my beagle Bodhi. I save all my nickels for travel.

My best quality is my sense of humor. Expect healthy doses of self-deprecating humor and slight drool stains on your couch.

Music, Movies, and Books

Authors: Kurt Vonnegut, Dave Sedaris, Dave Eggers, Sarah Vowel, Susan Collins, J.K. Rowling.

TV obsessions: Breaking Bad, Lost, Kroll Show and Silicon Valley

Currently eating: Gluten

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

Taking a 6 mile hike along crumbling portions of the Great Wall of China.

Second on the list was spelunking in a limestone cave in eastern Tennessee. Seriously, I recommend River & Earth Adventures in Elizabethton, TN, to anyone into genuine outdoor recreation — this was not your typical pansy guided tour. I crawled into spaces smaller than I thought possible and was muddied, bruised and beaten by the end. But I made that cave my bitch.

What I Can Share with Hosts

I can bake you Southern biscuits.
