Hi! My name is Julian, I come from Annapolis, Maryland, and I go to school at Lewis and Clark College in Portland, Oregon. I'm an International Affairs major with a focus in International Political Economy. I absolutely adore the weather the in Portland and am currently missing all the lovely rainy winter days I've exchanged for freezing cold here in Paris where I'm studying for the semester. I'm a college athlete, I play that one sport where we dress up like gladiators and throw the handegg around, though I also participate in Rugby and Soccer games when I have the chance. I'm an avid travel and can't wait to get around to more countries.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

I believe that couch surfing provides a great way to meet locals and also provides the necessary service of finding someplace for me to sleep. As much as I'd love to I probably can't stay up for a week straight. Getting to know people however represents a wonderful opportunity cause it throws you right in the middle of everything and you don't feel like such an outsider.

Interests

Like I said earlier I'm a college football player and I love watching college football and the NFL. I'm totally tuned into world politics seeing as it's my choice of study and am usually up for a wide topics of debate based on what's going on. I also love history and classics and am currently in the process of learning Ancient Greek, a totally not-useless skill (I keep telling my parents that) but the Iliad and the Odyssey are two of my favorite books. I'm currently in the process of learning how to feed myself so cooking is quickly becoming a passion of mine.

Music, Movies, and Books

The Iliad and the Odyssey stand out to me as particularly good books. I love movies of all kinds and it's really hard to pick favorites. I tend to be more on the nerdy side with Star Wars and other SciFi movies, but I'm also a huge Tarantino and Nicolas Winding Refn fan and I'm usually down to watch all sorts of movies and TV shows. Music is my life and I can usually be seen listening to every genre of music from Classical to '90s Gangsta Rap and everything in between. Most recently I've been on the indie-hipster-folkish grind, but I'm also very excited for Kendrick's new album. But I'm always down to talk about music and I also play guitar.
