About Me

Hey, I am Julian.
I am a very open minded person and I want to explore as many cultures as possible. When I am travling, I like to travel on low budget because it is the best way to meet locals and to experiece a country as it is while avoiding tourist-traps. People who don't travel or don't exchange with strangers often mistrust people they don't know (maybe because the media only report what they think is worth a story and that unfortunatelly is mostly negative...). Therefore traveling strongly influenced my character and showed me the good sides of the world and its people.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

Couchsurfing is a good way to get in contact with local people while travelling. During a hitchhiking race I took part in, my team was spontaniously invited by our drivers a few times. This was the best experience I ever had.
Hosting People is like traveling in another country as well; you learn the habits of different people and you explore your local area in a new way because you see its beauty through the eyes of a stranger.

Music, Movies, and Books

Music:
I listen to a large variety of music though I prefer any kind of "hand-made-music" ranging from rock, ska, reggae and traditional music of the countries I visit.

Books:
- Any kind of travel reports (currently I am reading Journey Man)
-A song of ice and fire novels (I think the books are a lot better than the series)

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

-Solo hiking for more than 400km in Germany (Moselsteig).
-Participating in a hitchhiking-race from Germany to Albania. I met so many incredible people and we were invited several times. The hospitality and the kindness of the people along our way is someting I will always remember and it gives me a smile.

Teach, Learn, Share

Teach: I can help you practise German
Learn: I would like to improve my French. I also would like to learn how to play the guitar though I think I am probably not that talented. ;-)
