About Me

I like to be creative and I like to learn. I'm a very good problem solver, and very artistic as well, which comes out in both my musical inclinations, and my design and development work. I'm also building a software startup with my wife.
My chief passion, however, is spirituality, and I do my best to keep my life oriented in that direction.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

I believe there's a whole generation of people that feel uprooted, with no patch of dirt that really means "home". For people like us, home is where hang up our hat, and the people we encounter become an important part of our lives, for a time.

Interests

Software development, learning new things and building new things, fixing mechanical things, building and dreaming up inventions. I like playing and listening to music. I try not to be lazy, and try to do things that are important, that I'll be proud to have done at the end of my life.

Music, Movies, and Books

Movies:Dreams (by Kurosawa), Ran (kurosawa), Studio Gibli films (Princess Mononoke, Howl's moving castle), various others.
Books:apocryphal gospels, Rumi, books on psychology, books by Belzebuub (a leader of the gnostic movement), Hermann Hesse, The Hua Hu Ching.
Music: Classical music (Beethoven, Rachmaninoff, Chopin are my favorites), a wide array of other music ranging from rock to jazz to rap.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

Lived in a cooperative house. The way our house, as a group, grew, tackled conflicts, and planned events has shown me the true power of relationships in working out problems to big to be dealt with by one person.

Teach, Learn, Share

Ooof. Lots of things. I know listening/facilitating skills, a wide variety of meditation techniques (straight up, astral travel, tantra, psychic, etc...), piano, guitar (most confident teaching), banjo, various art mediums (drawing/painting/photography/ceramic wheel throwing), some web-development skills (as well as general computer expertise), blacksmithing, unicycling, juggling some poi, & general knowledge of a lot of different religions/philosophies.
