We are Juli and Trevor, a couple who, in January 2024, left our salaries and lives in Japan to travel the world. We are now realizing our dream of exploring the world!

We have one final goal for our world trip, which is to find a place to call home in the future. Somewhere we can fall in love with and live in, build our house in, and raise kids in.

In 2024 we covered many parts of Southeast Asia and India, and in March of 2025 we started our journey through China and onward through central Asia.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

We love sharing our time with new interesting people and learning more about how they live. Couchsrfing has been one of our favorite ways to make new friends while traveling the world

Interests

Juli: I love cooking (and tasting) new dishes from around the world and sharing meals with new friends while chatting about our travels or playing a casual game of chess

Trevor: I love stories most of all, whether that means reading, watching and listening to other people's adventures and creations (I especially love Sci-fi books and movies) or writing my own through travel and interactions with new people. Chatting, playing games and sharing adventures all add to the stories we tell each other.

Music, Movies, and Books

Music: MPB, Paul Simon, Fleetwood Mac, Siames, The Hu,

Books: Dune, American Gods, A People's History of the US, Kirawareru Yuki (the courage to be disliked)

Films: anything by Dennis Villeneuve, Tarantino or Guillermo del Toro, Christmas Movies (even the cheesey ones) and Marvel movies (through endgame at least)

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

We have technically circumnavigated the globe once, climbed at least 3 different volcanoes, built a chicken coop in Java, walked on a glacier, and hitchhiked through the Himalayas.

Teach, Learn, Share

Juli: I'm happy to share some recipes from Brazil and Japan. I can also share a some tips about life and travel in Japan

Trevor: I worked as an English for many years and also love doing crafts with others (especially sculpture).

What I Can Share with Hosts

We are happy to help clean and cook and have volunteered at a few farms and hostels so we are more than willing to help out with anything that needs doing.

Of course we are also excited to share our stories and listen to yours!
