EUROPE 2015

We have been planning for a long time and we cannot express how excited we are about traveling Europe for the first time in June and July of this year :)! We hope to meet awesome Couchsurfers along the way! As our apartment is pretty packed right now we aren't accepting guests at the moment but we look forward to opening our home to you at the beginning of the next school-year in Sept. 2015

About Us

Julian and Desiree: Hi, we are a couple that loves nothing more in the world but to travel. We both grew up in Central California and met while working for a Drug Prevention program. We've been together for four years. It's hard to describe yourself in a few sentences but we'll try! We love nature, experiencing different cultures, and we love trying new foods. We are both vegetarians but we don't let that stop us from having a good eats.

We are both University students in our later years of school. Desiree is studying Nursing at San Diego Mesa College and Julian is studying History & International studies at UC San Diego with a minor in Music (but he really wants to work at a Record Label!). Desiree is a Starbucks Barista and Julian is an Residential Advisor in UC San Diego's International House where his job is to help assimilate International Students to a US University. We are excited about graduation coming up in a bit over a year, moving again, and starting our careers!

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

Julian and Desiree: Traveling is really all about the people you meet. We are on Couchsurfing because we don't just want to go to Paris and see the Eiffel tower, we want to meet locals and experience their culture! We hope to meet fun people and make connections with people around the world on.

Interests

Hi I'm Desiree, I love fashion, finding ways to be eco-conscious, and travelling. I'm a bit obsessed with animals. I love the usual - dogs, cats, birds, - but I have a strong fondness towards rodents. I've had three mice the past two years. Two of them have passed away recently, unfortunately. A few other things to mention - I love comics, collecting superhero actions figures, and I love, love, love theater. Any good play recommendations would be very much appreciated.

Hey, its Julian! My biggest interest is music. I write, record, and produce music for fun (and hopefully for a living soon!). I've been playing guitar for 8 years (I play a Takamine and a Strat if you are wondering) and started singing in an Acapella group called UCSD Duly Noted in college. Music is amazing, it brings people together and it is a great pastime. If you're interested in my music, you can check it out at my website, Audiomade.com. Other than that, I am a total history nerd and I love animals.

Music, Movies, and Books

Julian: Weezer is my favorite band! Close seconds are the Beatles, Queen, Straight No Chaser (Acapella), Steve Vai, and anything Disney writes. My favorite books right now are definitely A Song of Ice and Fire (Game of Thrones). I think my favorite movie is probably The Shawshank Redemption but it is so hard to choose and I like anything I get to watch with Desiree.

P.S. Watch Big Hero 6 it was amazing

Desiree: I'm not one to have favorites, I love all kinds of music. I particularly enjoy compositions by James Newton Howard. If you haven't heard his music yet, one of my favorite works of his is the Peter Pan soundtrack. When it comes to movies, I am a die hard action fan. I love Marvel, Harry Potter, and Guardians of the Galaxy. My favorite book is Molokai. If you happen to have a heart for historical fiction, it's worth a read.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

Julian: Waiting in a long line at Tacos El Yaqui in Rosarito, Mexico and meeting some friendly locals - and then eating incredible Quesadillas. Seriously, the food in Mexico is mind blowing.
UPDATE : I test drove a Tesla, it felt like a spaceship!

Desiree: Traveling to New York on a whim with my boyfriend and best friend, Julian. I saw my first Broadway show - Gigi on Broadway. One of my favorite actresses, Vanessa Hudgens, played Gigi who I have been wanting to meet for as long as I could remember.
