Overview
About Me
I have a mixed background, with all that that implies (not really knowing where I am from, having an international perspective of life and speaking many languages, for example). I was born in Sweden, where I now live, but neither of my parents is Swedish; my mother is from Italy and my father from Bolivia (where I grew up). Therefore, my upbringing was a mix between pasta, quinoa and cinnamon buns. And maybe therefore I now have a great curiosity for new and different experiences, places and people.
It might also be relevant to mention that I'm a vegan. However, my guests are more than welcome to cook and eat any food they like.
PHILOSOPHY
Sincerity is a key word for me... that's why I only tell sincere lies.
Why I’m on Couchsurfing
HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING
The CS project is a great effort to make our world a little bit more hospitable and friendly. I want to put my two cents by sharing experiences (old and new), stories... and, of course, couches.
COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE
I have had a few great couchsurfing experiences in New Zealand, Vietnam, Malaysia and Sweden. Both as surfer and as host.
I have also been a member of Hospitality Club for some years... you can check me out there if you are a member (I go under the same name as here: Julianmelgar)
Interests
I'm a biologist, and biology is my main (growing) interest... but it's not all about biology for me; I'm a science journalist as well. My idea is to combine biology with journalism... I just want to show people how wonderful biology is! Apart from my "professional" interests I love hiking, camping, reading, writing, cooking, meeting friends, having good conversations, watching (good) movies... I also enjoy almost any kind of sports, especially those practised outdoors... and travelling, of course!

Music, Movies, and Books
This list could be made very long... let's just say that I generally like things that touch my heart, my mind and my senses, and that make me dance. That applies to most things, also to music, movies and books.
