ABOUT US

Recently married, Junior and I are a friendly and positive couple with sincere, open hearts and a passion for travel.
We enjoy lively conversation but also enough quietness to take in the atmosphere and appreciate the subtle things. We have already met fantastic people through Couchsurfing and we hope to continue to do so with our future travels. We love to meet travellers and hosts who also see that backpacking and travelling is to the beauty of places through the people who have those places in their hearts.
We love spending time with friends, sharing stories or dancing the night away but also a quiet night with a great movie or playing board games is good for us too.
We love the beauty of nature, it helps us keep things in perspective. Meeting new people opens up new ideas and inspires us.

We are very interested in the social enterprises and NGOs in the places we visit. We actually met while working for an NGO in Peru and share a passion for finding out more first hand about the amazing things people are doing in their communities.

PHILOSOPHY

Julianne: My friends and family all over the world have helped me to widen my horizons as well as keep my feet on the ground. The sun, sea, mountains, fields, forests and lakes never fail to fill me with wonder and help me to remember that there are more important things than daily worries. I know from experience that it's important to listen to your instincts but they can sometimes be hard to hear. I try to give people the benefit of the doubt, this can sometimes lead to disappointment but I am sure that cynicism is the enemy to positivity. To clear my mind I swear by yoga and walks in the fresh air...preferably with a dog.

HOW WE PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING

We can't offer a couch yet as our living circumstances don't allow it but we have met a lot of travellers in our home town (which was Arequipa, Peru and will soon be somewhere in the UK). We have had the luck to meet exceptional couchsurfing hosts and other travelling CSers in various locations across the world. We have met people who know and love the places where they live and helped us discover the real stories behind them. This is what we offer visitors to our home, helping you to discover it from the inside.

COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE

We have surfed couches in Brazil, Buenos Aires, Mexico, Guatemala and Honduras. We've met some inspiring and generous people and discovered so much about the places they live in thanks to their wonderful open and friendly attitude....we are now addicted to Couchsurfing and want to meet more of you lovely people as we explore more of the world.

We have eclectic movie tastes: comedies such as those starring the late Robin Williams, action movies like the Bourne Trilogy, Fight Club and X-Men, classics like Mary Poppins, Sleepless in Seattle and The Wizard of Oz, psychological shockers like The Usual Suspects and Trainspotting. Julianne has a weak spot for cult classics (especially Tarantino) like Pulp Fiction and Labyrinth and Sci-Fi like Battlestar Galactica and Doctor Who. We both also love nature documentaries.

Books - Julianne: I love any book that grabs me by the heart, head or throat. The writing must have beauty and power. I particularly love Granta Magazine. Junior: I like to read about international politics, development and philosophy.

Music: Salsa, rock, Reggaeton, electronica, motown, whatever you can dance to and puts a smile on your face...more specifically Red Hot Chilli Peppers, Incubus, Libido, Maná, Vilma Palma, Lionel Richie, Air Supply, Peter Cetera, Britney Spears, Foo Fighters, Girls Aloud, Lady Gaga, David Guetta, piano conciertos, classical guitar, Zero 7, Foster the People, samba....
Every mood needs a different tune.

We can share: Knowledge of Peru and Peruvian culture, government, law and economy, knowledge of numerous business sectors in the UK, knowledge of places we've travelled to and knowledge of Britain (things to see and do that show you it's true depth beyond the flashing lights of Piccadilly Circus) and British culture.

When we meet great people through Couchsurfing we always keep in touch and do our best to help out with anything we can, such as information about places we have travelled to or lived in.
If we meet up with you in our home we can show you around and give you tips about places to visit that are slightly off the tourist trail.
If we stay with you we offer you our time to share stories and we hope to leave you with some kind of information or knowledge that you didn't have before you met us.
